This is quite an interesting video.
ОтветитьWould this work with a gpu that doesn't need a psu?
Ответитьwhat i need is the link for the adapter
Ответитьimagine if mini pc in the future will have a feature of dedicated gpu attachment
ОтветитьI miss having a shop. We used to "Frankenstein" so many things. If some build or configuration was impossible, we made it possible.
ОтветитьIf only there was some sort of casing this could all this be bolted to so that you can slide it under desk. oops that would be a regular desktop pc.
Ответитьi have my gtx 970 gpu connected to my asus chromebox cn62 mini pc,, "but",,, the nvidia driver i have downloaded "does NOT" detect it!!?? why!!??😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Ответитьisnt easier to get a normal box, open the mini one take it all out put it in the new box and add extentions to it as a destop one? idk just wondering on my side a easy way without being messy lol without the things open on the sides etc…
Ответитьkinda reminds me of those restaurants that serve "deconstructed" food. deconstructed pc.
Ответитьthanks,where u get the adapter
ОтветитьGood video but I stopped watching after you couldn't work out the correct percentages....
ОтветитьU CANT EVEN LINK THE 14 DOLLAR IGPU
ОтветитьAwesome video btw if folks are unhappy with any video part they should simply stfu and suck it.😂
ОтветитьYour nvme adapter is pcie 1x. You can observe it by just looking at the thickness of the link. It’s way too small. You need to get a better adapter. The link right now isn’t worth it.
Ответитьwould be good to see what the fps would have been on a better motherboard, with same SSD/memory/CPU?
Ответитьdo you have a link to the adapter ?
ОтветитьThanks but.. I do need to put the ssd too do you have another idea?😊
ОтветитьI would go with 3060 RTX cos it cost the some at 1660 that is just me
Ответитьyou saved me, best ideea ever
ОтветитьVery informative video. Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьCool video!
How on earth did you come up with your improvement percentages though 😅? They were all wrong imo.
If you had 25fps and improve to 50 fps, that's 200% of the original or in other words a 100% improvement.
If you had 25fps and improve to 86fps (for instance), that's (100/25)*86 = 344% or a 244% improvement.
The numbers you mentioned were way lower
"Not wife approved" - love that line, and it is so very true!
Interesting video, while not 100% practical it is still interesting to know that such possibilities do exist. Also it was very interesting to see how well the external card did one only one PCI-X lane (better than I was expecting before seeing your benchmarks)! I would love to know how the card would have done with better bandwidth like the full 4x you were originally hoping for.
I've been doing this using mini pcie ivy bridge 17watt tdp using an RX the HD4000 plays GTA 5 better than Iris they are weaker new gen cpu. Unless your greener energy architecture PCI x1 isn't as great stock as i3 3217u vs HD 4000 but HD 4000 still holds its ground.
Ответитьnever thought this would be possible. i just have some Qs. is it possible to completely remove the external power supply? like getting a gpu that does need external power (like the A2000/1650, which conveniently has low profile) , then just get the power draw from a converted floppy drive power cable to usb...
ОтветитьThose cheaper mini PCs usually have a m.2 SSD slot which is not the same as nvme
ОтветитьCompetitive games are doing fine on mini pc, laptop or other low powered
ОтветитьI'm currently using an old 3rd gen Dell laptop with a RX 6400, through an EXP GDC.
ОтветитьI'll play Microsoft office. 🤣🤣
by the way, there is a mini pc from a brand called minisforum, it has some accessories to plug external GPU on its PCI-E slot.
but I don't remember how many pcie lane, the only this i can remember is the pcie dock accessories has a maximum of 3 slots GPU size
Great video on hacking something to something else!!!!!
ОтветитьI'm curious, if you can troubleshoot a little and test the adapter on a desktop in order to find out if is the motherboard of the minipc or the adapter. nice video
ОтветитьI dont have such an "adapter" for the power supply I allways used just the cheapest paperclip + some cheapest office tape , because I used a PC-power-supply for many tings incl. car radios
ОтветитьThe best part of the whole video is the presentation of the NVMe to PCIe adapter cable!!!
With this adapter we gain four PCIe Lanes (4x32Gbps or 4x64Gbps or 4x128Gbps!!!! depending on Gen of NVMe connector which is avaliable on motherboard)
So this adapter gives us the possibility to add to a computer an LSI card, iSCSI, QSFPx2, QSFP+x2, RAID controller, or any other component that requires these speeds, either to increase the provided SATA ports or to add a card network with 2x10, 2x40 or 2x100Gbps speeds!
Think what you can plug into four lines of direct connection to the processor!!!
Excellent video with unlimited applications of the adapter both in upgrades and expansions of capabilities of our new constructions.
You remain a Pioneer, keep it up!!!
? where you able to change the 1x in the bios?
ОтветитьI really think it's the adapter.
Ответитьjust wana say thanks for sharing
ОтветитьThanks
Ответитьsooooooooooo coooooooooll. 👌👌👍👍💕💕
ОтветитьJust get a mini pc with thunderbolt 3/4 and plug in a egpu
ОтветитьI love how the Lenovo M75Q gen2 (was $488 for a Ryzen 7 and windows 10 Pro in 2020) has the holes in the board for a full PCIe x16 slot, it just doesnt have the thing populated, once i replace it i'd like to try and install one and see if i can run this with a GPU+ribbon cable+external PSU
ОтветитьI found strong mini PC at aliexpress and thought about external GPU, but dont know how and what performance will be...and YOU MADE VIDEO ABOUT IT ❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьThe problem is the ebay adapter :-)
ОтветитьThanks for the video. Awesome. Small correction: it's 600% , 6 times faster in Cyberpunk 2077 (from ~8fps to ~49fps)
ОтветитьI can’t help but doubt that a GTX 1660 uses the full 16x speeds that a modern PCI-E slot provides. But I am sure it’s being restrained quite a bit from 1X.
I was really surprised when I saw it run Cyberpunk at a decent enough frame rate that could be playable. I have a 1660 Super and never thought it could, so I haven’t tried.
Maybe I’ll give it a shot.
What this shows me is the sheer level of processing that is now handled by the graphics card, opposed to what the motherboard and CPU used to.
