Surely there must be actresses far more fitting for this role of an incredibly beautiful woman. Might as well hired Shu Qi or let Gong Li be on the lead role instead of being an antagonist. The only time this actress looks amazing is during that snow dance. Other times she's just mid.

This is a movie with such hype back in the day. And the theatrical poster and the title is so alluring and mysterious. I have always been intrigued to watch it. But when I did, I was pretty disappointed

i despise this film for several reasons but god does the soundtrack go so hard.

People complaining about how they have the same Chinese actresses in many movies during this period and should have allowed other actors in these role don’t understand how many films are made. These actors paved the way to allow for Asian films to be shown and made due to their success and talent because these films were created with them in mind as the talent. If they can’t guarantee a film will be profitable then it wouldn’t be made. There’s more people who work on a film than just actors and actresses. Additionally, the film is based on a book written by a Caucasian guy so I am not sure what authenticity you are looking for. The role of an actor and a story teller is to play a part and to write a story.

Something that u guys forgot, Ziyi got flamed n alot of hate from chinese people, especially china because she decided to take this role. Although i can probably guess she knew the risk of taking this role and she probably didnt give 2 fucks.

Who else loves the hidden culture of a hidden world. The book is fabulous. I couldn't put it down 📖. 👀👄
