You need to be cautious, hedgehogs lacking enzyme that allows them to process natural sugars that come from fruit so fruit should not be fed to them! This is a serious issue. It's common with many such animals, if they like it it's still not a good idea.

You should bring up the heat they need to prevent them from hibernating which can kill them.

We were told to get a see-through tub of 100 gallons for them to be happy and have room to move. These can be purchased at Walmart. Then a heat emitter lamp and bulb that does not shed light only heat, then, of course, a thermostat to make sure they are not too hot or too cold. We are getting 4 hedgehogs at the end of July 2021. Looking so forward to it ;)

Great video! It's not good to give them cat food. They need to eat insects and specific vitamins that are designed for hedgehogs.

If you want to not have them live until their highest lifespan then give them cheap cat food like these morons are telling you to do. Give them fresh if possible or buy them high end dog food in a pinch. I can guarantee that they will have cancer fast with cat food

I Absolutely love my hedgehog..
He is spoiled, still learning his likes and dislikes food wise.
I work nights from home, so we spend a lot of time together.
We shop online for cool stuff for him 😎
He has a BIG cage with a dome, saucers, chair, tent, food corner, snack wheel & a cool wicker bed with a nice soft hedgehog furry bed inside it.

I am going to be getting him an outside play area to enjoy the beautiful weather this spring & summer.
He is an early morning runner , between 5-7am..which is actually perfect..because that's when I am winding down from work too.
We literally have the same perfect schedule together.

I got him from a family that didn't have the time needed for him unfortunately, but they definitely wanted the best home for him..I'm glad I was chosen.

I send them videos and pictures because thier little kids were sad he had to go.
Now its like having an extended family 👪

Oh my god, that cage is definitely not suitable for a hedgehog in any way, they need much more room and need more enrichment than living in something this size. Verges on cruelty.

2-4sqft cage is straight up animal cruelty. Please get him a BIG cage.

4 square feet is the suggested minimum for their cage, NOT 2 sq. Ft. I know this is old but leaving it here for anyone else that might come along
