Just now read Second Brain in Amazon. Great for organising information and good explanation on how to use tags effectively. Still one doubt. Suppose we use Evernote or Apple Note, we create a new folder for each project. The Archives (space/ folder) keeps on getting bigger and bigger. How to tackle it?

Hey Tiago, this was an interesting breakdown and the Areas approach was definitely something new that I look forward to trying.

I did have one suggestion for you to try out (or explain why you prefer this way in case you've already considered it!) - the Archives folder can actually go within each of the Project / Area / Resource folders. That way stuff doesn't get mixed up again once it is archived and I find it usually works with a way I would refer to an archive anyway (like looking at an older project in reference to a current project). The way I do it is have a folder within square parenthesis called [Archive] within each category so it remains distinct from the others.

I just set up my Task Manager with the PARA Method and I honestly feel a sense of calm. Now if I can only find the right note taking app.

I just throw every note I make into Evernote and don't bother tagging and organizing anything anymore. I don't even bother to move stuff from the inbox into my archive folder.

I can easily find whatever I need because it's automatically indexed, even doing OCR on images. Just type in a search term, and there it is.

Could not be simpler or easier.

Hey Tiago! Just finished the book and absolutely loved it. It's really giving me all the right tools to get going. I'm already falling into some of the pittfalls you're talking about, but that's ok.. I like taking my time with this and set myself up for succes to also mentally keep this going far into the future. But for instance I was wondering. Say like in this video, you have 2018 taxes in the archive, and 2021 taxes in the projects. But I'm guessing there's also a Taxes in the Area folder. When is the point where you would want to move the 2021 taxes to the Area of Taxes or just straight to the archive? Where do you define if you want to keep it in the Area available at all times, like for instance you might want to compare certain years of taxes.. This is still a point that's a bit hard for me to figure out for myself how I would prefer to do this.

Another one I think is that I also have some overlap with my businesses where I would want some information available in all "areas" so, for my DJ career, My record label and my design and photography practices. Where sometimes there is just so much information that to me it still makes sense to have a folder within a folder. Would you advise to continue with this or just go up 1 level in the hierarchy and for instance instead of doing:
- Record Label (folder)
- Record Label Contracts (subfolder)
- Record Label Design Assets (subfolder)
do this:
- Record Label Contracts (folder)
- Record Label Design Assets (folder)

Which I think would give a lot of folders in the Area's main Folder. Or do you think this would still be best practice?

Sorry for the long question and hope it's something you could answer. I think there might be others finding this a bit of a hard step because the focus is heavy on Projects (Which I understand is the main objective, but like mentioned before I would like to set myself up for succes because I know how my ADHD brain likes to just ditch this whole thing and find something shiny and new again later on)

My main issue with PARA is that I often want for my projects to be related to one or even multiple of my areas. So to me separating projects and areas is a bit unnatural. Why I would even do a project that is not related to some of the areas of my life.
