Rory, this Mk1 version of the Leaf is often referred to as the "Miss Marple" version, because of the bodywork.....
Ответитьthis is not cheep good car good value but NOT cheep , under £2000 to avoid ulez charge is cheep that,s the max scrap allowance so get a ev car at this price then do the maths
ОтветитьI WONDER DOES THIS GUY FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT NOW...
ОтветитьMy main concern about buy a pre-owned or used EV is the battery. If it was previously a rental, then people were probably doing DC fast charging almost 100% of the time which could affect the battery. Also, you don't know the charging habits of the previous owner so I would be concerned about the battery
Ответить-The purpose with a 12v start-batt is to let elec.devices start & run on the battery, not on the el-engine.
ОтветитьBest review bro . thanks 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьUgly car sorry :/
Ответить@autotrader you need to make the listing of the vehicle battery health mandatory in ev vehicle listings.
Age, is useful, milage is pretty irrelevant on an ev with hardly any moving parts, but I don’t see battery health listed anywhere in listings !?! . The literal most important thing you would need to know when buying a used ev 🤦🏻♂️🤷
You'll be massively disappointed in what you expected it to do. In a lot of countries where the weather is a lot hotter than in UK, the battery is not gonna last more than 50K miles , without losing range. Also, 4 bars out of 12 is closer to 50% of range reduction.
ОтветитьFour and a half grand for a 10+ year old car with that performance and range is definitely not a bargain lol
ОтветитьBattery replacement is around 13K in case anyone wonders
ОтветитьThese are great shows! Many thanks ✊
ОтветитьMy best friend refers to my LEAF as the “Koala with a full diaper”.
ОтветитьMy 2015 LEAF will open the charge port with the key fob. 👍🏻
ОтветитьWhat happened to this series?
ОтветитьI get about 5 bars of energy on my Nissan Leaf. My '15 Leaf has 54,000 miles. I get 75 miles full charge. Am I headed for a new battery buy soon?
Ответитьthe boot
ОтветитьTry and find an old prius that's not been used as a cab?
ОтветитьHey Rory... have a look under the tarpaulin at the back of the garage. You'll find a Nissan Leaf there; it's the same one you promised to tart-up and modify as a project series almost exactly one year ago. It sounded like fun... what happened? 👎 🥴
ОтветитьYou shouldn't expect to get any significant increase in mileage with Eco mode unless you're doing a lot of stop and starting (city driving). Driving non-stop at speed on the freeway will get you essentially the same range in Eco or Normal mode. Also, the key FOB is able to open the charge port from outside of the vehicle on later model Leafs. Only the earliest years lacked that capability. Not sure when the change was made but my 2015 Leaf had the ability to open the charge port via the key FOB.
ОтветитьYes
ОтветитьDon't buy a Nissan Leaf Nissan is the worsed they don.t care about the owners of these cars Don't buy a Nissan
ОтветитьAnother good review thanks
ОтветитьSuperb review, you actually feel like you come away with something useful and informed after watching.
ОтветитьI find it amusing when you say "it has a decent sized trunk" referring to Fiesta-sized cars
ОтветитьBargain? Cheapest in my area is 16.000€ (from 2017)
ОтветитьI don't know about electric cars, but on my electric bike, the cost of replacing the battery is half the bike's worth.
ОтветитьSo when is the next video?
Ответитьbattery replacements on those things are insane ill stick to gass
ОтветитьBro, these Nissan Leafs are not doing too well in sweltering hot climates. A local taxi app company tried bringing them in but its not looking good. The battery doesnt deliver on the kms as promised.
Ответить“It’s a bit quirky”
Yeah just say it, it’s disgusting and nobody actually likes them.
Just think of how much it will cost to get new battery cells for those used EVs.
ОтветитьAll electric cars are bad ideas. Especially older EVs. A battery will loose 2% of its max charge every year, so a new EV that can go 200 miles per full charge will be down to 180 miles per full charge after 5 years. Also, batteries won't hold their charge as well when they're old.
ОтветитьUnless it’s a new battery. I wouldn’t go there
ОтветитьI am about to buy a nissan leaf, but now this series has me considering the absolute cheapest thing out there (which appears to be a Leaf anyway). Should I pay more ($6,000 more) to get as many bars on the battery life meter? Or should I save the money and be OK with 8 bars (6 white, 2 red)? I live in an area where higher mileage = more corrosion, so I need to take that into account too. Currently considering a 2012 Leaf SV with 8 bars and 52,000 VS a 2015 SV with 32,000 miles and 11 bars. THanks!
ОтветитьOk, I'm convinced. We'll buy an old LEAF.
ОтветитьHow on earth did you get one for 4.5 Grand????
They are going for minimum 7 Grand in vancouver
Please let Joe Biden know electric cars are junk....
ОтветитьIt’s not pretty is it haha, I want a ev car but can’t afford new, so this was a brilliant video, thanks Rory.
ОтветитьBargain... a car that can only drive 60 miles! What's the point? I'm very 'green', live off grid with solar power, and need to drive more than 60 miles to get basic necessities like food. Yeah, in America not everybody is crammed in expensive, gigantic sardine cans called cities! America spans over 3500 miles. Nope, no traveling for you! To save money on land, a little drive is necessary to obtain groceries. What do I need, a $100,000 Tesla (that depletes and known to cause cancer from electromagnetic chaos) AND $50,000 worth of solar panels!? What a friggin bargain!
Ответить60 mile range is crap and worse if you have passengers, use the radio, lights, aircon or wiper. A 10 year old ICE car has the same range as when it was new.
ОтветитьAs an enclosed golf cart for local grocery store runs, it’s current used price of about $6-8,000 is what it should have always cost. You cannot beat it as a super affordable car - cheap charges, no tax, no real maintenance. But as it’s always been, if you don’t own a house where you can charge it each night, it’s still not a practical option.
ОтветитьThat car looks as ugly as sin. I wouldn’t be caught dead in one.
Ответить+$10k in value now because lithium prices have likely bottomed forever!
ОтветитьWE just bought a used 2018 Chevy Bolt with 50k miles on it, but due to the battery recall, it got a brand new battery, so in essence, we got a brand new car.
ОтветитьOnly found this channel the other day and subscribed immediately. The few videos that I watched, including this one, were really, really good. Very pleasant, calm, and "positive" style of reviewing and such a relief over those shouting and fake angry types. Please keep up your excellent work.
ОтветитьCoworker had just bought a used hybrid Ford Escape. It died on him in a month and a half due to battery/charging issues. The gas motor works just fine tho but I dont think you can drive it very well without the Hybrid bit. So now he just rides the bus. If you just end up taking the bus or walking because your electric car is such a POS, I guess that's ecofriendly.
ОтветитьThe thing that puts me off is range anxiety. Most of the time my daily mileage is under 20 miles so the Leaf makes perfect sense but occasionally I make long trips and then I'm at the mercy of charging points.
Ответить...CAR LOOKS GREAT! ....WE CAN'T HELP YOUR FAULTS!
