yeah..how long will this run with zero lubrication going on...that light coating of super thin assembly oil you put on is gone fast. this entire thing is an excerzise in how not to design stuff. thats even with dumping a ton of oil in the fuel.

The center area where the swash plate resides (swashcase?) would make a perfect oil reservoir (bath the swash plate and pistons in oil, no net compression here), just needs a filler and drain drilled in. The refrigerant passages between the cylinders would make an excellent water jacket. Put a decent header on it for backpressure and don't forget an NT carby, a tiny water pump, and a rad. With these modifications (and the obvious 86ing of the acrylic pieces), the motor should run as long as it's maintained (oil changed every 20 hours or so) and produce a couple horses. One upshot is that it will not require a break-in period but may or may not still require 2-stroke oil/gas mix depending on how well the ends are oiled from the swash case oil.

With skills like that, you could even take apart a Hoover motor and build yourself a supercharger for it!

I finally figured out that this engine design is called a revolving cylinder, axial piston engine, for all those wondering.. I guess technically it would be described as a revolving cam, axial piston engine. Very similar to a swashplate axial piston engine, like those used in torpedos, however instead of a swashplate rotating, the whole cam rotates which has peaks and troughs that push the pistons up and down as It rotates. They operate much better at slow rpms as the centrifugal force tends to wear down the engine too quickly when it’s operated at high rpm’s. Which is why they have limited applications and are great for torpedos. Very interesting and impressive engine nonetheless!
