I have short torso. I did not know why I hate high rise pants!!!. But nowdays it is so hard to find low or mid rise jeans or pants in general. It bothers me why the “fashion style” is not well thinking 😕. Thank you for your suggestions:)

I want to add those "paper bag" pants/shorts to the list. These combine a couple elements that just never look good, the high waist + the waist tie that doesn't hit in the right place + the crumpled fabric flaring upwards at the top of the pants. I want to love them, but they are just a huge NO for short torsos. 😔

Everything always to loose or to tight at the wrong places. I just wish I could sew myself or that I was rich enough to only wear clothes tailored for me 😁

Thank you so much for your very informative videos on the topic of how to dress women with short torsos. For many years I've struggled fitting myself in clothes that were/are made for women with "regular" bodies. And when I did find something that fit and looked okay, the clothes cost more because they were labeled "for short wasted women". All of my weight is in my stomach and midsection; apple-shaped. I've never had hips and have a flat butt. LOVE to wear jeans with button-down blouses that hide my belly but want to change my look. I've never liked my body because of my short waste issues and in my early 70s, I like it less! Must be late menopause, I don't know. I think it would be nice if you would feature women with a body like mine (5'3" 150-180lbs), in a video in clothes suited for them.

I think a lot of this comes down to tailoring and fit. Anything can work if the proportion is right.

I don't know if this is the channel I made this comment on before so I hope I am not repeating myself but anyway I wear a 38DD bra I found a strapless Maiden Form bra at Walmart and it works for me really well. I have paid much more for other strapless bras but the Maiden Form is the best

It took me 50 years to figure out (no pun intended) that I could never wear all the cute waist cinching things my longer torso friends would wear mo matter how skinny I was.

This is really interesting to me. I think you're right in that it's about proportions, but I think it also depends on how you see those proportions. I think the crop you don't like looks much better than the one you do precisely because it's a more uneven cut. If you were a visual layout, the reason would be obvious. You always want 1:3 or 1:4 more than 2:3. There's a reason most fashion drawings elongate the legs to inhuman proportions. But I also get the effect your choice creates and why it looks better to you.

That's what I think is important but difficult. Understanding design well enough to apply I to yourself in ways that you prefer. Thank you for sharing information that helps make it possible

I’m 5’6” but I shop in the petite section for my tops. Fortunately, my arms are a bit shorter too. Salespeople always try to steer me to the Missy department, but I know what works. Jackets and coats, especially, need to be petite. I go up a size and can walk out with a perfect fit.

This is such a usefull channel. I’m 64. I’m tall and have … yes long legs and a very short torso. Everyone makes videos about how to elongate your legs ! Come again ? How about shortening you legs. Also I have no waist and my legs are very slim. Which makes them look even longer. I wore drop crouch pants for several years (Rundholz style) but since I recently found out I’m actually a coastal grandmother (although far away from the sea and even further from grandchildren 😅) I stepped away from this style. Now what has been a major eye opener for me was an article I read ages ago that told me why I always had a tummy. Even when I was pencil thin when I was young, I always had a tummy. In the article they said it is because of my long legs ! There is less space available for our intestines than with women who have a long body and short legs ! Waw, bye bye frustrations. It does make sence doesn’t it ? And look around you, long legged women usually have tummies, short legged sisters are flat !

A nice A-line skims the hips and you can wear a convertible bra, nice back, not too low. Very feminine They are not so popular these days unfortunately, but everything comes back. 🙂

This is so my body proportions too, and I have so many of the same struggles! I am also just 5 feet 4 inches, and accommodating long legs on shorter height can be a struggle too - and with the shorter torso! We have many things we can do, though, with our body type, that is amazing! Thank you so much for highlighting some of the struggles - it makes so much sense to me!

I found a romper once that got smaller above the waist which hit me perfectly. Sadly I grew out of it

No rompers or jumpsuits for me! The waist (and crotch) never hits at the right point on me. I can have horizontal folds of material, or bulges of it, above the waist, too, because the bodices are too long, who wants that bulk? A jumpsuit has more points that have to fit than any other garment, they just don’t work on most women because they’re designed for 6-foot tall models with acres of torso.

Spaghetti straps are a big No for me, I need a bra with straps because of my age and larger bust size. I’m always looking for “tank tops” and “tank dresses”, but so many of the (silk) items I want have those spaghetti straps, it’s frustrating.

I thought I was the only one whose ribcage sits right on my hipbones! Without vertical room between them, I lost what little waist definition I had when I got into perimenopause (the body changes where it stores fat then). My biggest challenge is finding clothes that fit my straight figure, my shoulders and hips are equal in width, but narrow, but my waist is almost as big because my ribcage isn’t narrow. It’s a real pain, even when young and too skinny I never found a single pair of jeans with a reasonably good fit. Now I wear either stretchy pants or skirts and dresses. Pants are designed for a waist about 12 inches narrower than the waist, I have only a few inches between them. With skirts and dresses, I only have to fit the waist (and bust for dresses), I’ve never found a garment that’s too tight in the hips. On the contrary, they tend to be about 8 inches too big there, but that works ok with skirts and dresses that aren’t stiff.

Great tips. We also can’t wear tankini bathing suits. The tops almost cover the bottoms 🤨. I wear high rise pants though ( hour glass here) as long as they sit at my belly button, no higher.

I'm only 5'1... And my waist is basically non existent. My iliac crest literally touches my 12th rib... (Uncomfortable yes) and I have a shortened cervical spine.
I looked overweight even when I was 98lbs (ten years ago) try adding 50lbs to that and you got an oompa loompa... 😅😭

Anyways my one daughter is petite too but has the longest spine and neck.. my other will likely be taller than eye, and is legs for days but because she is already tall .. having a short torso doesn't inhibit the way she looks and moves. Thanks the Goddess
