Small pro gamer move, which used to work, haven't tried in recent patches: actually let colonial nations form in as many colonial regions as you can. Being a Catholic, this will give you a decent +colonist growth through the treaty of tordesomethingsomething. And then move your capital. What used to happen, in very old patches, was that all colonial nations lands became yours. What used to happen more recently when I did it, is that you kept the colonial nations and then: 1. both you and your CN will have the +growth boost 2. whatever they colonize is theirs, whatever you colonize is yours 3. full colonial benefits (treasure fleet, if is the case, armies etc). Using this I colonized the whole Americas except, iirc, La Plata and Peru, as a released fledgling Asturia, before the other Iberians even got to have any chance at it.

Is this "feature" still broken in the 1.32 Songhai patch?

Can anyone tell me how he keeps his economy under check? After the Novgorod war he has all three advisors while still making a positive income and keeping his corruption at 0. When I'm trying this run, I'm drowning in loans and need to debase my currency to get the cash to pay off my loans and can't get the other advisors.
Am I missing something obvious here?

theres an island above Australia which is in asia technically so you can move capital there just fine, but technically counts as part of a colonial region. thats how asians stop Australia from forming

Isn’t having colonies under you a good thing as long as you maintain proper liberty desire?
Mid game they provide good income and manpower and have fairly large armies and navies that you don’t have to micromanage.

just did a norway game two in fact, one failed and one pretty successful run.



the first one failed due to me being stupid and joining the league war in which my ally GB prompty joined the opposite side too me so we broke our alliance, i wasn't really strong enough to join the reformation war but i still wanted to join for whatever reason and help fellow protestants win the war. so GB declared a war for Orkeyjar which they get claims on in which i decided to blockade the strait with my navy which was sizeable but still not strong enough to fight GB's navy so i decided to take naval ideas for whatever reason here i managed to prevent GB from laying foot on that island however they did decide to attack with their navy at the last minute so i had to white peace out at the last minute in order to "Win" the war. however i figure this wasn't going to stop them in their tracks unless i get really good allies like France or what not, however they wouldn't ally me do to my strength so i decided to call it quits, the other issue with the game was i didn't really get all the colonization done. (also i don't have leviathan so i couldn't do this exploit? here)

the second i colonized all of North america pretty fast actually, and it paid off really well for Norway meaning i had like zero debt by the time i did managed this. I did not however get the Caribbean as i was trying to get Mexico and Lousiana during this time. and Cuba went to Portugal along with Brazil, along with Colombia and some part of Mexico going to the French who promptly broke the alliance with me do to the -100 wants subjects provinces or whatever. as well as do to their opinion of heretics dropping do to me being reformed, them being catholic and catholics going extremely hostile. However i still had a muscovite alliance going so i managed to survive. though i did break the alliance off as they were getting curbstomped by the ottomans and crimea, then the opposite happened where muscovy was curbstomping crimea without ottoman intervention so i really them after that war with crimea. as i needed a strong ally. i didn't really expand much on europe's continent until pretty late in the game, as i was busy colonizing all of north america. so the commonwealth mecklemburg etc all own scania, and formerly danish lands. But i did manage to grab Swedish lands so own like the main part of Scandinavia, with Denmark belonging to the commonwealth who allied France and owns Scania. and gotland.

Ottomans in both games were an unstoppable monster, conquering russian lands and slowly reaching my lands though in the second game they didn't conquer as much of russia as Crimea was doing that or was doing that until they started getting curbstomped by muscovy. unfortunately this happens whenever you don't have much choice and don't play close to the ottomans in order to sabotage them, declaring a no-cb war on byzantium for instance as Aragon, Venice, or Austria or some other nation in order to cripple the ottomans before they declare for constantinople.


i might play Norway again for a third run to see if i can get even more successful then the second attempt and maybe less of an ottoman intervention.


however i will say this: You only need really England and Scotland in your independence war as they are sufficient to dealing with the danes and swedes. However if you can get Lithuania, Poland, or Muscovy as well then you're pretty much golden. And you don't even need to bother with getting the swedes too help you, as strategically you can just take Dalaskogen from them which is all you need to make money to fund your colonial expansion into the new world. along with the "hunt for the seven cities" event. mine popped in canada. I recommend however england/scotland as they are easier and quicker too get with poland you probably have to wait until 1460 for they can beat up the Teutons and connect by sea zone to denmark/sweden through their vassal danzig. Or until you get muscovy too support your independence by waiting for them to rival the danes in which there will be a land connection from poland to denmark and then poland will support your independence once muscovy is supporting your independence as well.

the second one happened in my second game where poland and Muscovy were supporting my independence, while england and scotland supported my independence in the first unsuccessful run of norway.

why do you want to move ur capital to the americas to prevent colonies nations?
