Dude, we need more teachers like you. I had a geography teacher who acted like you, and he changed my life for the better. Keep it up. We need people to teach the next generation to think critically (specifically for themselves).

Seems to me like a lot of people just don't or don't want to understand the categorical difference between biological sex on the one hand and gender (whose historical origins are actually in grammar/linguistics) on the other. Rowling was just pointing it out and because people tend to react instead of think, the s-t hit the fan. I agree with Rowling: do whatever makes you feel better, dress and act however you like, but don't impose an ideological fantasy when the science (biology) clearly demarcates a basic difference between male & female eg even just at the chromosomal level which determines biological sex in the first place. I mean if that's not the case then how on earth do transgender people get to be in the "wrong" body at all? The level of non sequitur in this debate almost does my head in...

I've been saying this american way of thinking everything is either or(false dichotomy) is a fking joke.

Things can be both or none or more sides to it.

I go by facts and critical thinking. Initially, I read about how trans athletes were checked for hormones level. This is measurable, the science checks out.

But if you dive deeper, you'll see that this lazy science stops there and doesn't do further research into the topic, they(the people in charge, especially the American system) just try to shut people down instead of learning and finding out more evidence that it indeed doesn't amount to an advantage.

Bcos late transition are still very visual.

My own observation and critical thinking is that it took more than a decade for the Thailand famous muay thai boxer to lose the physique when they did a follow up a decade or 2 later. Her punches and kick felt less powerful then vs when she was still actively fighting in early stages of transitioning.

In conclusion, I agree with JK that you don't have to trample on women's right to support trans rights. But i do not like how she's always doing these tweets to gain attention. (Ref dumboldore saga. Idgaf if he's gay or not. It's irrelevant to the plot in OG HP.) And that i support use of hormone blockers because it gives time for the child to carefully decide if they'll transition and also the effect of male hormones can be less prominent for mtf....

The teacher did this so beautifully and smoothly and without judgement. The student did well, too, by understanding how the teacher broke things down for him to see.
It's appalling that there is no longer this kind of thinking being taught these days.

I am almost 60 yrs old. THIS is the type of teachers I had growing up who taught history, ethics and culture. They asked us to THINK, to DISCERN, to be FAIR and OPEN minded to all, even those we didn't agree with. WTH happened to these types of teachers?!!

I see so many people in the comments on several videos about this who completely miss the point. Talking like this is some big win for the right and loss for woke people, how he is going to lose his job because he's rationally thinking. The guy is just teaching critical thinking its not a loss for "woke culture". Hell woke culture wants you to critically think rationally. The kid appears very uniformed on what Rowling does that warrents her being transphobic and seems to have some conflicting beliefs when it comes to what she says/does and understanding why the people he wants to support rally against her. It seems like morally he wants to support trans rights/freedom and has gone with the flow of social media without thinking much of it instead of using critical thinking and research why these things are being said to actually help him be truly supportive. I hope he's taken something away from this but it comes across to me like he just crumpled started parroting what he heard online that he doesnt really agree with outside of moral obligation or understand whats being said then started paroting his teach nuetral standpoint and feeling ashamed and stupid. When his teacher was just trying to get him to think more. Its not some win for the right. Especially not when the right heavily pushes for people to be uneducated about gender, sexuality, critical race theory, ect. You know all the stuff that educates people, educates kids properly about these things so that they can critically think about them and not just parot the beliefs of their parents or institutions, bigoted or otherwise. If people would just take a beat and read the whole thing in context do a minimum of research on their own instead of knee jerk emotion driven reaction to what they are told there would be so much less angst in kids.
