Lin Manuel is a genius for writing this, but I think I prefer other actors in the Hamilton role. Just saw it in London and the lead actor (Declan Spaine) played Hamilton with much more confidence and gravitas and a better voice. Kudos to Lin for creating something that others make even better

I do have to point out that, while I don’t care that the cast is racially diverse (mostly because back in this era minorities didn’t get the opportunity to participate and most certainly would have been great contributors had the situation been different), I find it incredibly bizarre that this is acceptable but if I wanted to honor a minority and dress as him for Halloween or play him in a role, that is considered racist and unacceptable. It’s ridiculous to tell someone that they can’t impersonate someone (the greatest form of flattery) because they were born with a skin color that was once a benefit but if someone of another race wants to do the same thing it’s completely fine and even encouraged.

And to those who say it’s still a big advantage to be white, why is it we have seen a huge increase in the number of Whitt people claiming minority status in order to gets coveted position advance in their career. No black guy is out there wearing light makeup desperately trying to convince people he’s white to get a promotion. What is the big advantage?

But I love Hamilton so much, and a big reason is because it reminds me that only seven years ago it was acceptable for liberals to love and praise America and our Founding Fathers.

I almost show this to my 4th graders without watching it all. Unfortunately it contains some direct sense to sexuality in a small part. Even if it is for 3 seconds, they will focus much more on that-than on the facts of history. It does look like an amazing show. I will have the pleasure of being present soon.
