What Xiaomi ، Huawei and other brands are doing with their fake 108MP cameras is a real scam, I have compared 108MP and 12MP photos thousands of times and there is no difference. It's our own fault for focusing on quality instead of quality. We care about quantity.

I don't understand. Little pixels give more detail? Wouldn't bigger pixels give more detail?

Why do little pixels create more noise? Wouldn't more of them reduce the noise levels than less pixels?

Even if every pixel lets in less light there's 10x more pixels so the light should be the same?

I would think megapixels matter in certain situations such as crime scene photos where you need to zoom in to see minute forensic details.

Only matters when you are printing photos and blowing them up

I own a phone which has a 64MP camera, and everything seems to be well-balanced in my opinion even if it isn't as great as a 108MP camera whith the crispiest resolution possible. I have night mode and it works quite well in lowlight conditions.

Edit: I use 9/12mp lens since 64mp isn't always needed

what is failed to be explained or even acknowledged is when you need photography for large format prints. Megapixels make all the difference then.

resolution on phones is just a marketing tool to attract idiots who flock to bigger numbers without understanding how photography works on the physical level.

there's a reason why the best pro photographers use full-frame DSLRs with only around 20 megapixels outside of studios and medium format inside
