So the only thing Metatton would be good for in theory is to delay a true genocide run.

Something curious is that it is quite possible (and I saw somewhere) that Neo Mettaton has more HP than even Undyne the undying... If we leave aside the armor (which is also important) Undyne takes at least 20k-25k damage (maximum 28k) before dying, while Neo Mettaton takes 5 to 6 figure damage (I have seen that that damage does not go down of the 35k)... Maybe with the armor he had in his box form (255), or the armor that Undyne had (99 in his undying form), he would have lasted longer in the battle.

I like to think that he really was strong only that by that point our damage was already monstrously enormous (proof of this is that Asgore himself who also had 80 armor died in a single hit). . . . .
It would be interesting if someone created a Neo Mettaton battle but with the best that the character had, that is, with his highest possible damage (90 from Neo form), his highest possible armor (255 from box form) and with the life he has in his Neo form, that way he would definitely be stronger than Undyne, something like this:


Mettaton Box: 30 attack 255 def
Mettaton: 47 attack 47 def
Neo Mettaton: 90 attack 9 def
True Neo Mettaton: 90 attack 255 def
Undyne the undying: 99 attack 99 def

Mettaton Box: 30 attack 255 def
Mettaton: 47 attack 47 def
Neo Mettaton: 90 attack 9 def
...well... at least his attack increased with each transformation, it's a shame we've never seen him attack even once (ironically, even Alphys in the pacifist run has attacks and he doesn't)...

NEO technically is known for it's high defence, as spamton says, but the reason mettaton neo dies instantly is because the player is just so strong. (basically chara)
