when I heard Bloober Team were doing a Silent Hill game I thought it was this one. Then I found out they are doing a re-do of Silent Hill 2 and I'm worried for them because if they don't get it right according to what the cult following think is right who knows what could happen

But uh, I thought Alessa's powers unleashed the demonic nature of Silent Hill. I don't know how can it exist in the 60's, let alone in Japan. It almost makes me wish it isn't canon

I had a history professor in college who lived in Japan for a period of time. His daughter attended grade school there. He told us that every day before his daughter went to school, he would pack her a lunch consisting of sticky rice balls into a tin lunch pail.

One day he went to a museum at Hiroshima. The museum contained many artifacts from the day the atomic bomb was dropped. One of the artifacts, encased under glass, was a lunch pail with a few grains of rice inside of it. He said he often thought about that moment when he reflected on the atomic bombings of Japan at the end of World War II.

The legacy of the atomic bombings still haunts Japanese psychology today, and it will be interesting to see how it is addressed in Silent Hill f.

Silent hill games can ONLY be made by the Japanese. There’s something about what they find terrifying or their perception of what would terrify Americans is terrifying. It’s that lack of understanding that creates these uncanny and surreal experiences in the first 4 silent hill games (yes even 4, amazing game).

So I looked up some things and it's a stretch, but interesting thought so here it is. I looked up "f" in Japanese for which there isn't a sound but also found the only time there's an "f" sound is in katakana which is "fu." I looked up "fu" meaning and it means "negative." Could this mean negative forces, such as the bombs dropping and negative impact? Or could this mean negative as in the timeline of Silent Hill, meaning it takes place before Silent Hill Origins? I wondered this before I watched this video just now and the 1960's is mentioned. Could this mean that this game is showing the origins of White Claudia in Japan which was brought over to Silent Hill? It says it's supposed to be indigenous to Silent Hill though, but we're also told it's not one particular place so...may be? Also some people have pointed to Morning Glory being White Claudia which used by native American tribes and there's something that mentions native American tribes in silent hill isn't there?
Just something to think about, I may be way off and don't personally know Japanese language so my tie in with the "f" meaning could be way off, just spitballin lol.

It would be great if the setting was in Shizuoka prefecture.
"Silent Hill" has literally been a direct translation of 静岡 / Shizuoka all this time, lol.
It's one of the prefectures that have a bit of Mt. Fuji in them, the south part. Lots of rature and forests and stuff. Though for a Japanese parallel to SH, I'd lean more towards Fujikawaguchiko, in the neighboring Yamanashi prefecture. It's a lake resort town, also next to Mt. Fuji. Its surrounded by forests (including that infamous one), gets foggy pretty often, and there's even Fuji Q Highland nearby, an amusement park with rides and haunted houses and stuff.

Having a flower as part the tragedy is 100% fitting to silent hill lore. In my opinion it's been consist through 1-4 white claudia was turned into a drug. Drugs were used in 2 by marry and possibly james and probably used in 4?

Like Halloween, Silent Hill isn't a place, more like a crossover between dimensions, similar of what Halloween means, when the veil between dimensions is more thin. That's the real meaning, and the reason of Konami revelations at october. This concept will add the final piece of the puzzle about the enigma of The room, and Homecoming, SH outside the town. This also will take the games lore to a different level.

With the game taking place in 1960 and seemly being about the bombs dropped on Japan, I wonder if this could be a sort of origin to the occult powers that are present in silent hill?

The "forte" in Silent Hill f being the only red letter similar to the only red letter in the "When They Cry" series titles was interesting, as the "Cry" letter is the red one. When whoever, or whatever, will cry, they will cry out loud.

Though, it is actually not a soul in Buddhism. Although, these terms are mixed a lot in Buddhist countries. And Jizo is actually a Boddhisattva. This is something like a Buddha or a Buddha. I am aware that it is not important for this game, but it is still good to know.

Forcing Japan to open its ports in the 19th century ultimately caused fascism and WWII? We absolutely should deny any country, culture, or nation their own agency. This seems to be a very moral endeavor. Though, it is highly historically inaccurate, a feeling of moral superiority is more important when you a making a video about a video, of course.

I´m sorry but I still can´t see the conection between the higanbana & the white claudia... It is assumed that the white claudia is a flower that was originally planted in the native american region where the town of Silent Hill was later established (they used the flower in their rituals). Now, if we use the play novel as a reference point, there we can find a phrase that SUGGESTS that the white claudia is used for the production of the "aglaophotis" that Michael Kauffman was such a fan of... But we are only talking about a innuendo. There is a colossal plot hole that continues to stimulate the flowering of more and more questions (pun intended). The largest and most important of these being: ¿In what way is the Silent Hill cult related to 1960s Japan? Considering the prominence that flowers have throughout this entire trailer, I honestly can't find a conection that isn't related to the manufacture of hallucinogens from flower seeds and the subsequent trafficking of PTV... I really feel that this is the only logical way to link all the swarm of events that are taking place from Silent Hill: Short Message with the pretty obvious implication that Maya's great-grandmother is the witch of Kettenstadt (probably japanesse native), Silent Hill F and potentially Silent Hill Townfall too...
I´m very cautious about my expectations when it comes to the Silent Hill 2 remake, but maybe they could add a tiny scoop of lore about all this drug trafficking stuff, just a hint or easter egg that brings a little bit of light to the matter (A diary from a tourist hidden in one of the Wood Side apartments explaining about how he got the PTV from Norman Young or something subtle like that)

You know when Konami did that showcase of all the games they announced this was the one that really stood out. As always this is a fantastic analysis Muse but I also feel there's a few more details related to the series that are absolutely worth remembering though they aren't directly shown within the trailer most important of which i think is this games emphasis on the colour red. If there are only 2 things that represent "The Mother" in this it's both the colour red and overwhelming death which does lead me to believe this story almost certainly will be focused directly on her in some respect.

It may also be worth noting that even though we don't see it in the trailer lorewise, Aglaophotis also seems to be a direct counterpart to the corpse flower as it's depicted in this game and given the amount foilage in this game I would be amazed if it didn't make an appearance in this game.
