This scene brings me into the past like no other, watchin it as 9 year old for the first time. Now when I watch the scene, just as back then almost 20 years ago, I keep imagining what if she was aware of him, what if God had align the stars for them two, the only man willing to treat her right but not able, not born at the right time. What an epic story.

im 22years young when the first times i watch this movie. tears in my eyes in this scene, such a beautiful cinemathography, the way monica control that facial expression really blown my mind. Even with short hair, she's still the most beautiful swan in castelcuto.

Ennio Morricone is a musical genius. The music really fits the story. It may not have lyrics but it successfully portrayed what the movie is trying to convey, love, lost of innocence, aftermath of war.

I don’t get it why did she change the way she dressed? What happened to her clothes.

That kid is more of man than a lot of men. A lot of grown men are mentally still teenage boys.
When Renato first saw Malena he lusted after her just like everyone else.
Even though it’s creepy that he stalked her , he empathised with her and didn’t objectify her like all the other men in te village.
He respected her and helped her out without expecting anything back.
The respect and love was still there for her when she was “ less attractive “ at the end.

although he had his faults, what renato did with the letter was amazing. without it malena’s husband would have never found her and never found the truth about her. he also didn’t have to write it aswell, he could’ve lived with piece of mind that malena was alone, without a lover somewhere in the world.

The story is so beautifully written. To the boy, Malena was his entire life, while the boy to Malena, is just a speck within her difficult life.

The moment they do finally meet, the boy was just another person Malena briefly interacted with, while the boy, it was the moment he waited for his entire childhood. The light caress of her hand while he helped her gather the fallen oranges, the close proximity he’s ever been closest to her.

It was enough for the boy to move on from his obsession and childhood crush of Malena, who wished her luck, when he truly meant to tell her that I loved her.
