Hi thanks the padlocks and chain and blackjack type weapons are doable for me when I travel - Funny I always carry a multi tool but when I worked in a school as a therapist in upstate NY I was told I can’t carry a multi tool but I explained I fix the students wheelchairs and walking devices with it so the principal made me break the knife off of it

I like to take the bigger Sharpies (especially the flatter ones that fit in the hand real well) and drill a hole in the base of the pocket clip, just big enough to put a slip ring through. Then I put two keys on that, my house key and car key. It's easier to fish from my pocket than my regular keyring, I have the marker in hand like a yawara every time I go to my car, and yet it's still a functioning marker that no one should find threatening. After a few years the plastic will get brittle and the pocket clip may break off, but it's cheap to make another...

The tactical pen is a great impact improvised weapon that is easy to carry almost every where, lightweight, quick access, inexpensive, easy to buy, often not considered a deadly weapon but with training or skill can be used as such, looks non-threatening in the pocket and can be used as a pen mightier than the sword.
I have tried a number of different tactical pens as their are a wide spectrum of them on the market.
Based on research and expert recommendations, a tactical that looks like a pen may be better in more environments that one that looks like a tactical pen.

In Canada, we're not permitted to carry weapons for the purpose of self-defence. That said, I ride a bicycle pretty much everywhere for 7-8 months out of the year, and wrapped around my waist the entire time is a nice, heavy length of chain. It's actually designed to be worn that way, as it's fabric covered with a velcro adjustment strap and a quick-release click buckle. If anyone comes at me, I can have it out and swinging in a split-second, and one end has a very heavy lock.

I tend to feel pretty safe with that thing wrapped around my waist, because it gives me plenty of reach and the ability to deliver crushing blows to an attacker's limbs or head.😁

In my state (MA), there's literally nothing that can't be deemed "dangerous weapons", since even something like a Crayon or pebble can be potentially lethal if used correctly.

If you carry a knife for EDC, its a 50/50 shot. If you're viewed favorably, NO CHARGES.
