I remember reading Mick said at the time of recording IOWA he was listening to a lot of Deicide.
ОтветитьSlipknot was my gateway band to death metal. It was an amazing time being in your early 20's and seeing them live at their peak from '99 to '02. It's hard to describe to people how insane those shows were.
ОтветитьIn news that surprises no one...
ОтветитьSlipknot is partialy death metal band, you're no metal head if you're in denial of that.
ОтветитьJoey being in Sinsaenum after Slipknot is really all you need to know to understand that they are huge death metal fans.
ОтветитьMortal Decay!
ОтветитьChris is the man!
ОтветитьInternal Bleeding has always been kinda meh. Internal Suffering on the other hand....
ОтветитьCorrupting Influence is SO fucking Catchy of an Album.
ОтветитьDuuude, that Part from this vid exactly I cut out days before and I did send it to my fellas, glad you did a short clip of your own😂 now
ОтветитьSlipknot ALWAYS supported Death Metal. They're definitely influenced by Death Metal.
One of the reasons I like Slipknot personally.
Here is a hot take I have always said since 1999/early 2000 when I first heard Slipknot. They were never nu metal. That was a label put on by the press and they got lumped in with the rest of the numetal bands. They were their own sound but id say closer to death metal than nu metal.. it was a band made up of 4 bands and it was a mix bag of chaos really. It was death metal, industrial, groove it had it all.
Funny a few years back I stumbled on Corey Taylor interview saying basically the same thing. Sure it had some elements but it was its own sound especially that S/T record which is my favorite and a gateway band to extreme music for me. Just my 2 cents on it
Duh
ОтветитьJoey loved Entombed, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death. Shawn Crahan loved listening to and was friends with Today Is The Day. Jiim Root also loved Entombed, The Haunted, Dillinger Escape Plan, Obituary. Corey Taylor is a big fan of Neurosis, Behemoth. Of course, they were inspired by Extreme metal, that's for sure.
ОтветитьThe thing about Slipknot is that they took all these elements from Extreme Metal/Death Metal/Grind and molded them into a way that was able to reach a huge audience. So many kids got introduced to blast beats, fast double base, tremolo guitar riffs, grinds and harsh vocals because of them. They brought that to the mainstream like no band had done before. They were able to be much heavier than every other band within their circle, and still be a fucking worldwide sensation. And that’s why I’ll always love them, there’s no one like them. Period.
Ответитьlisten to AHIG the opening to sulfur as well as gematria are very death metal to me the funny thing is Jim wrote all the guitar parts to sulfur in a session with Joey I thought for sure mick wrote the beginning to sulfur just sounded like death metal to me ik mick is huge on it easily my top 2 guitarist of all time
ОтветитьHe played on a Malevolent Creation song
ОтветитьI feel like only genre purists and snobs reject the fact that Slipknot has at least like 10 percent Death Metal in their DNA. Especially on Iowa. I say this as someone who vastly prefers DM to Nu metal. I guess I just don’t understand why everyone seems to have some axe to grind on this subject. Probably their popularity? Beats me
ОтветитьSlipknot were definitely influenced by death metal.
Ответить2 or 3 of them were in Anal Blast from MN before Slipknot existed
ОтветитьIowa album is death metal 🤘💀🤘
ОтветитьMick and Joey are (were) actual metal heads. Mick played on Malevolent Creation record and I think Joey covered for Satyricon in a US tour
ОтветитьThere's an unreleased Slipknot song called Carve that has a full on slam part at the very end
ОтветитьMick is a big death metal fan. Dude even has an immolation tattoo.
