I ride similar shoes to these... They are great until you get into a small medieval town in Italy during rain and want to take a look at the antique old town... I slipped right into the glass door of an antique shop, almost smashing it. I felt like I was walking on ice.

in all honesty, Etnies makes mountain bike shoes that would probably be alright. soles are good and stiffened with a suede skate shoe style uppers. mid-high tops would be similar or better than S&S.

I actually find the knee pads handy when going to the bar.

Personally (as a bit of a DIY riding shoe) I wear Timberland pro's , for those not in the know those are the work boots made by Timberland, having very solid grip, nose protection and pretty solid protection up to the ankle. Biggest notable downside to them though is their weight.

Can we get a big & tall version of this vidya? Some of us c are a touch beefy. It's hard for a 6'4" 270lb mofo to fit into this apparel that seems built for dudes under 130lbs that need a step stool to reach anything in the kitchen.
