we don't want new lighting and reflections, we want the textures to stop being so pixelated when you zoom in to our characters. it looks like a lot of the face and hair textures were redone but not high enough res still.

One thing I'm noticing is that the make up/eyelashes are getting less prominent.

For such a expensive game you would think they would do more

I’m hoping they’re developing a new Final Fantasy online game with action combat and modern graphics. This style is too dated.

About time they update the graphics of the game after more than 10 years. Maybe we dont have to rely so much on reshade and mods in the future for a good looking experience.

Honestly, not bad, per se, but I'm gonna be brutal - I think those AI texture HD upscale mods look better. A couple times during the video I thought I was looking at the pre-update version and thinking "Yeah, those textures are pretty blurry." and then it would move on and I'd be like "Wait, that was supposed to be the HD version?"

Viera face update looks phenomenal in comparsion to old one. I really hope they will also make older races less "stiff" and add better idle / running animations.

Not that much difference besides some texture upscale and small reflections on eyes and shit.

Nah. Not enough. This is too tiny of a change to bother with. I played FFXIV for 10 years, before the first expansion and played all the way up to Endwalker. Got the conclusion of the story and went "I'm satisfied. I will never touch this amazing game again. ! 10 year long journey and it was quite the ride."

So I'm not touching the game ever again by the looks of it. I want either a new FF mmo or see them do a PSO 2 New Genesis makeover. These are the only options for me.

I think i will finally fantasia to fem aura again, huge difference, they finally dont look "sleepy"

they change from pre bake shadow on texture to realtime and some new shader effect. character model have more polygon but still maintain original looks.

who cares if it looks better? this xpac looks DUMB, BORING, STUPID, It's the "panda xpac " of FFXIV, it will SUCK. Going back to WOW.

I'll be honest it's so subtle that this is hardly worth announcing.
Sure, it looks marginally better, but at the end of the day it still looks like an upscaled PS3 game... because that's what this game is.
I was hoping for an outright overhaul, but that would raise PC requirements and cause problems for the 8th gen console versions.

Have you guys been playing the same game as me? The current hair textures look like they were ripped straight from the PS2 and I have friends who stopped playing just because of how dated things looked.
This is the best thing to happen to FF14 in a long time.

I want the sky to move, the clouds to fly and the wind to breeze.

They did as much as possible back in the day but I honestly would like the sky to feel real and not only like a rotating PNG spherical image
