Last winter we traveled international with United airlines. They lost all 8 checked bags (+a carry on) of My family of 4. (Bags found few were damaged after 3 weeks) The reimburse process was terrible cost me times and anxiety they didn’t respond. I submitted a claim through the chase sapphire cc that i used to purchased the tickets they paid around $800 for everything including hotel, foods while we were stranded. Terrible experienced which caused all of us avoiding air travel now since we have anxiety whenever think about that!
