just upgraded to 9.1 from 5.1.... personally i feel it is worth upgrading. The difference is 5.1 has deeper bass. 9.1 has balance sound and dialogue clarity is better in 9.1 and Dolby Atmos is just awesome. For deep bass lover, 9.1 may not be worth it.

I have all the three soundbars 2.1 5.1 9.1 at these price range they r awesome.

It makes no sense to me why would you compare 2 soundbars with different levels of capabilities. 9.1 atmos would definitely sound much better than 5.1.

I bought the JBL 9.1 and now regret it. Sound quality is poor. No detailed highs or rich sound, only a bland output like a speaker in a closet. So now JBL comes out with a new 1000 and 1300X. Should be better, right? NO. No rich sound at all on the new equipment, just the same bland sound quality, but louder than before. JBL is quickly losing to Bose and Samsung, JBL used to be the leader in sound, not anymore.

5.1 more clarity and 9.1 more 3d sound it depends what youre looking for..
both of them bass are good.. well 5.1 more punchy and 9.1 more deeper

jbl signature is always the same roll off of the mid to high bass frequencies for a targeted audible dominance in the lower end cause lower bass frequencies. simply fake and have also tested plenty of jbl to be able to tell. With the Logitech z906 system you get more bass output and full sound spectrum of the bass instruments from 60-90 Hertz for less money. The Logitech go way down to 29-30hz in my frequency analyses. another Level

Do Not Buy JBL Soundbars with detachable surround speakers if your don't want to spend atleast 4.5k INR to replace battery on single speaker.
I am a Bar 5.1 owner since 2019. The main problem of the surround speakers is the battery. Over the period of 2-2.5 years, the battery stops giving backup.
To REPLACE the battery, the service/visiting charge is INR 1200/- and the battery will cost you around INR 3000/- and it doesn't come with any warranty.
So, if you are okay to spend around INR 8500 every 3 years to replace the batteries, go for it.

I don't understand why everyone is so excited about this soundbar!

I have two sets: a full 5.1 home theater q-acoustics and a first generation jbl 5.1.
Both systems are connected through an optical interface

So when I listen to the soundbar, it seems to me that it has absolutely no midrange frequencies.
The sound detail and listening pleasure suffer a lot because of this.

Hi JBL bar9.1 is flexible and can give overhead bomb sound with Comcast taxability and with Dolby DTS together in one Prada JBL bar5.1 is good still not flexible and completely enriching without the tooth of software I mention what is DTS Dolby and also up firing speakers are missing do the flexibility JBL9.1 has and the software it has give the flexibility definition of weather and age above according to all the flexibility feature I mention that the JBL 5.1 doesn't have only one thing in it has general surround sound has mixed that model accident without the flexibility enhancing features still surround normal surround sound is number one still not flexible then the other model and with it software what end which to make the already surround sound what's number 1 in the JBL 5.1 what makes it more and more in the JBL9.1 sound alone still for music the basic better JBL bar5.1 music bass because it gives music base compatible base movie based other model for music and that type and version of base Dishoo suit music that's my entire over again

You work for Samsung, maybe fact Samsung soundbar may have jbl preferring as for me if have Samsung tv just use Samsung soundbar 7-16 channel speaker , I don't know how it feel like cinema in home as jbl have Auro, dts X with Imax audio tech Dolby audio but not thx spatial audio yet , if this have , complete set of cinema experience. This jbl 9.1 quiet powerful already even I use dell waves maxx audio pro + Dolby Atmos custom tune as not compare to Samsung Harman soundbar 22 channel + tv . jbl 5.1.4 is quiet interesting feeling 🙃🤣😎. JBL cinema type is best one as to heart feeling even bullet hit that you show it a flat one but the true is can feel in scene.
