I just started a declutter journey. This is the best I've seen!! Thank you.
Ответить"would it ever occur to me that I already have this item" when I tell you my brain exploded.
ОтветитьI can always locate my googly eyes
ОтветитьGosh, she talks fast! I have to slow down her part of the video.
ОтветитьTerrific video!
ОтветитьI saw someone with a t-shirt that said "It's not hoarding if it's books!"
Oh, I hope that is true.
My Mom passed away and I inherited her stuff, which also contained my Grandma's stuff. My house is small, so it was difficult. I decided that I was only going to keep the things that brought me the most joy. I chose only the things that would enhance my needs. I still have decluttering to do, but I'm getting there.
ОтветитьGoogley eyes belong in the craft bin. Don't throw those damned things away. 😃
ОтветитьNever get rid of a canner... Unless you don't can.
ОтветитьWhat helps me too is putting same items in one place. Like notebooks not in 3 places in the house.
ОтветитьOMG! I don't think I've ever seen anyone other than us with that Bear in the Big Blue House costume! We've had ours over 20 years and all 4 of our boys wore it. (They're now 16-26). We decluttered most but that one was a keeper for us for grandkids one day. The big bean bag bum... lol. Great video as always!... Off to declutter now that I've had my morning dose of the Minimalist Home. Thanks for taking the time to do what you do!
ОтветитьNumber 1 is actually counter productive for me. If I'm wavering this means that I need to proceed with caution. I don't always have the funds to replace an item I rushed to get rid of. I need to find out why I don't have a clear yes or no about it, then I can decide.
ОтветитьThe very first thing Dawn said, I was like NOPE! That is WAY too simple for most things - obviously, just my opinion.
ОтветитьWhat about when you are in debt/low income and a naturally resourceful person, but life is too busy at the moment to repair or create the things that you really love. For eg there are things that are precious to me, like photos of my kids, and some really nice photo frames that I have kept or found in charity shops which I intend to put together “some time soon I hope” and I live in quite a small house, so space is of a premium. I also have a beautiful spinning wheel that was left to my daughter by much love friend who died. My daughter is very creative/craft type person and really needs that kind of thing for her mental health but doesn’t feel into it so much at this time. Want to pick it up over the winter months. I have loads more examples like this how do you choose, because they are a big yes, but not able to be used right now so anyway they are a big yes for the future… THANKYOU! Xx
ОтветитьPut seasonal cookbooks with the decorations for that season. My mother has a hording problem and that's how I fixed at least the cookbook issue for her.😉🙃
ОтветитьThats the 'Saylor Rule'... one in, one out. Lol! If we find we have FAR to many of an item type, we can do "1 in, 2 out" in order to free up space and still enjoy a new item (this includes gifted items).
ОтветитьI have started Decluttering because of you. Thank you! I have started in my bedroom and have my closet almost done. Questions: Do I need lots of containers to put things in? I have a drawer by my bed that needs to be Decluttering and I put it off because I want to keep things but I don't know where to put them. Such as extra pair of glasses, eye glass cleaner, pens and paper, hand creams, deodorant for when I get ready in the morning. I thought maybe you could give me ideas. Thank you. Tammy, Lincoln, Nebraska
ОтветитьI LOVE THIS ONE!
Ответить💕 love this! "Yes" or it's out. If you have more instant confusion than peace about an item, there is our answer: it's gone!
Sorry, I have big issues with this but this piece of advice makes so much sense to me.
Are u Todd Friel's daighter?? You sound just like him!
ОтветитьSuch an awesome compilation! Thank you! 💞
ОтветитьNo need to get rid of a pot. plenty of things to struggle with. I think I will have an inventory list. It would be great to have a storage room lol. Kitchen items stay in the kitchen. the rest. is stress
Ответить"Where would I look for it" ... good question. That's when putting similar items in one spot helps. Those googly eyes would be in my sewing supplies with the lace and buttons.
ОтветитьWhen you buy something you should get rid of something so you never have too many things. If I buy new boots I find a pair to donate or throw out if not in good condition.
ОтветитьI Just had a Total Victory 😅 on the where would I look for it First… last year (at the end of the football season, I washed jerseys that my older kids needed to use for their jobs - they work in the restaurant business.) so when they came out of the dryer, I thought…hmmm, where would I look for this first next year..(in my laundry cubby was what I came up with) - so they were securely there for 7 months. In the wee hours of the morning…I heard a family member was looking for the shirt. When I woke up early, I asked myself…hmm where would I look for that first and I remembered the laundry cubby. YES - Victory for the Family member that needed it 🎉 During the season they keep it in their room, so that’s easy. Thanks Ladies for All the hard work you put into Sharing ❤
ОтветитьThat's why I have multiples 🤣 of scissors, tools, glasses, lip balms... Sooner or later I will not put it back "where it goes"....
ОтветитьI don’t think being a minimalist is a bad thing. But I have found myself regretting getting rid of certain things. I have purged clothing only to have my husband laid off. We were in a terrible financial situation and I could have used some of those basic items I felt I didn’t need. One shouldn’t live in clutter, but purging unnecessary is stupid.
Ответитьgreat ideas, and thank you for them.... i am happy for her that her kitchen (and i apparently the rest of her house is GIANT), so it is not such a giant (pun intended) effort to declutter as she has so many places to put all the stuff in an organized manner. just a thought
Ответить❤❤ LOL at googly eyes👀:would it occur to you that you have this item" And the shoes! Guilty! On a different note, i noticed you have your Ninja Oven by your gas stove. My Ninja Oven is currently cluttering precious countertop real estate because the instructions said expressly to NOT put it next to you stovetop? So, it is not serving me, but it is more of a yes than a no. oh help! Have you ever had issues with having the Ninja oven next to your stove top? The instructions never even hint at what they may be? So why in the world is that even a thing? Also, yours looks very clean. Instructions also say not to line with alum foil (though individuals in reviews say they do if they tuck it on the rack very tightly), so how do you keep it so clean? If i could use the oven safely, not creating something impossible to wash, I would def have more time to declutter. Thanks for your video!
ОтветитьReally great video, full of encouraging tips, time to go tidy. ☺ Also, you look radiant, your skin is just lovely.
ОтветитьLove the stats on a tidy home vs. A hoarding home. Important stuff. Love the tips condensed too!
Ответитьice cream maker?
ОтветитьI am blessed w/a yoga room that has a ‘spare’ closet in my home. As I downsize to move overseas this has been my de-cluttering approach ‘either I make $ selling it or I pay to move it’ WOW! What a motivator. So as I go through an area, the pile of what to sell can get huge…enter the yoga closet. For 2 yrs I have been moving these items into that closet, listing them by season etc and if I found I had been overzealous & there was something I ACTUALLY needed that accidentally got culled, I rotated it back in. Out of ~3K items so far there have been < half dozen things that got back into the closets = )
Ответить❤🤩👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊
ОтветитьVery funny -- these women are comedians! Sure makes the medicine go down faster!!
ОтветитьSometimes it's about finding the right person to give a sentimental item to. I had a handmade cookbook that my 96 year old grandmother had given me in the early 1990s when I first got married - it was a collection of recipes from members of her church that had been copied and bound (cheaply, like you'd do yourself at Office Depot) The cookbook reminded me of our humble beginnings in that first apartment, and reminded me of a time when grandma still knew who we were (she's in a home now and does not recognize people anymore.) I couldn't just stick it in a goodwill box not knowing if they would incinerate it. Well, as it happened, my friend's daughter was getting married - right out of college like I did - she was already living with her husband, same as I did... so the apartment already had been established and she didn't need household gifts. She's a church-goer herself and loves cooking. I knew she would appreciate a handmade cookbook from a tiny church in Maine so I gave it to her (with a card and some money) as a wedding gift. I felt better getting rid of this item knowing it had found a good home!
ОтветитьOk change, coins...one coffee can camouflaged as decor. Emptied at coinstar 3 times a year. Generally 100-150 bucks each trip. I love my decor can help me with a small saving. There are only 2 things on that shelf, a pretty box for electronic accessories and my pretty change can.
ОтветитьThanks girls
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьI dont know if i can take credit for this idea but it works for me. If i need to get rid of things i never use but who have a history. I take a picture of said thing so I can watch the picture and think of its history. I must tell you most of the time i never ever look at the picture of said thing and end up deleting it with good consiens (sorry for my english spelling).
ОтветитьArt Work! I love that picture you have behind you there and in other videos. It's so calming and has such lovely colors blended together.
ОтветитьFind putting shoes in the Wardrobe not clean.
ОтветитьExcellent summary of great strategies! I needed this reminder. Well done!!
ОтветитьDump the jar of pennies under the couch cushions! There! It has a new spot!
Ответитьmy son just graduated and I still have his toddler costumes...anytime I think about getting rid of them I then talk myself out of it because " what if I have a grandson one day?" my son would love to have them!!but is this realistic?!how do I get past this thinking?
ОтветитьI really wish some one understood what it's like to have no money to spend. Oops threw away Google eyes. Well needed them for school and now we don't have them and no can't borrow them or get them somehow easy. But feel like sheet for throwing them awsy.
