I have watched this video several times since I started my English Journey. I love it because it's true. Just speak speak and speak, we will get used to speaking English.
ОтветитьI learn whole sentences saying them aloud. 5 days - 300 repetitions per day at least. Later I don't need to translate. I know the meaning of words straight away like in my native language. And also I remember the meaning longer than by learning separate words. This method is called: chunking. It was a real game changer in my learning process and communication skills in English and other languages.
ОтветитьI'd also like to add something to the "immersion", I like to listen to English-speaking radios online, like the BBC for example. There are tons of radios online, you just have to Google them. But sometimes the topics are rather boring, so in those cases I'd also recommend listening to podcasts with specific themes you are interested in. If you love movies, video games, gardening, pets, etc. you can find a fun podcast for you. You can be both learning English and getting used to the normal talking speed of a native person and also having fun and learning things from your favourite interests. By doing that regularly on a daily basis, eventually you'll find it natural to your ear. That has been very helpful for me, I hope for you too 😀

ОтветитьVery qute 🥰
ОтветитьIf you need to translate to speak then you did not acquire English or your target language. You mearly just memorized vocabulary and grammar rules and are trying to apply them. Is that how you also speak your native language? Do you think of the words you need to use and the grammar rules and such? No, of course not. To acquire a language means to get a lot of input, you need to hear the language and understand what is going on. With this your brain will process meaning and learn the patterns of the language. Learning a language is more of an unconscious process that you only need to consciously regulate through immersion.
