My heart drops when i hear a chain saw when i was young i would be yelling tree murderer's but old age curtailed that but i have seventeen mature trees in my garden all planted by me so i feel i am doing my best

I have a fantasy of genetically modifying these to grow 10 times faster. It would be nice to have full sized redwoods in just a couple hundred years, rather than having to wait 2,000 years. Maybe make them more tolerant of other climates. I would love it if they were growing everywhere out of control.

I had a red wood for a while here on east coast, was just leaving seedling stage about waist high, ...and then a chipmunk borrowed in under it and chewed the tap ROOT... :/ i will get more than one next time.

Just planted 17 Aptos Blue Coast Redwoods on my property. They will take many generations to grow to their massive potential but I hope they reach at least 50feet before my time is up. Planted on the central coast of California, they will not reach the >300ft mark but even if they get to 100ft one day, that would be pretty awesome.

Why not grow them from seeds? Won’t it be bad for genetic diversity to clone millions?

Not a treehigher myself but I admire this guy and wish I had the time to visit a redwood forest.

Sad truth but only way the earth would get covered again in trees is if we planted them and all died off. So so so so many trees beyond our number of believe has been cut down by humans lol and you thunk within your lifetime for over 100 thousand years of us cutting down trees, Yeah right. We will have to have days more people do it, designated areas of like no tree cutting and designated areas of. So on and so forth.

Perhaps God whispered in your ear David and said
"Go back and revive your Life in the pursuit of breathing Life into the Redwood Trees with in America"

And when the big earth quake comes and it all drops into the ocean, and when all the cloned trees die because they are cloned and not diverse enough to resist a disease...you lose them anyway.
