HOW TO COMPOSE A GRADE 9 GCSE MUSIC COMPOSITION

Guys I have a question, theres a girl in my class and she has pretty blatantly plagiarised a song, do gcse examiners have a way of checking this? We do gcse ocr music?

not to be mean but music is possible the easiest subject, in composition and performance I got 120/120 and 65/80 on the written a grade 9 overall. My tip is to attach a word file with your audio file analysing your piece and explaining why you did things because as long as you can justify your reasons, its impossible for them to mark you don on it.

Did my music GCSE composition a few months ago and got an almost perfect score (Grade 9). My biggest piece of advice is to start coming up with short musical ideas, and begin to develop them as your song progresses

I've just picked my gcse choices, and I chose music as one of them... I am a music scholar at my school, and I play the piano (ATCL) and the viola (G8), but I had my theory exam like seven to eight years ago, and I'm completely like a beginner rn lol

Oh my gosh this is what I’ve been looking for, today I was told I had to compose my first ever free composition and I was freaking ouuut but I looked it up and I saw this so now I’m going to research some wedding themed songs as my piece needs to have a story behind it and I thought it would be a good one as it’s easier to structure like different melodies for the groom and bride and yeah so just thank you so much xxx

Hi! This is such a good video! I am a music GCSE tutor and for anyone who is watching, just to add to this great video...1) Don't work on the computer straight away, try working on manuscript or at a piano (if you read music) and compose a 3-5 note melody to work from. 2) Focus on 2-3 elements of music, maybe it's harmony and rhythm, there's so much you can do with these, and then the other elements of music will come from that (e.g. if you develop a great rhythm and change it up in your different instruments a great texture will evolve without you even thinking about it. 3) It's totally okay to sit in an hour lesson and compose two bars (or nothing at all), sometimes the creativity isn't there when you need it to be! Anyway, great advice x
