Why are you using a stool? Here is a trick for you, get a wash cloth put it on the shower tub floor stand up on wash cloth can’t slide, go to Walgreens get a grab handle with suction cups mount that to the shower wall hang on to it while showering don’t forget to stand on the wash cloth one more thing get another towel lay it over the toilet top while it’s closed sit on it before you get undressed for shower after you are done sit back on towel on toilet to dry off all this I’m telling you is what I do

This is the only good reason for having more than one towel.

You need a proper shower seat

Shower seats are the bomb. I have chronic pain and fatigue and some days all I can do is sit. We had a wide, low threshold shower installed a few years ago because Dad has trouble with his back, Parkinson's, and high leg lifts for tubs. It's awesome.

Do you prefer showers or baths in general?

Do you ever take baths? I assume that would be more awkward. I'm curious now.

I never really liked gimmick accounts. "my life as an amputee" "My life as a blind person", or if you wanna remove the disability out of it, people who center their channel around their profession(there have been channels I have seen were solely focused on training, rules, encounters they had, etc. as a flight attendant, firefighter, doctor, etc.)

Have you ever tried to dry your nubbin wit hairdryer? I have problem with arm mobility and thus helps me to dry my armpit so it won't get chaffed being wet.

Could you tell us stuff that only amputees know. Like you can only know it by experiencing it. If that makes sense. I've always found amputation to be a dark Interest of mine lol

I've always wanted to get one of those "seated tubs" with the door that opens inward. You see them advertised to seniors sometimes.

Once you get older like I am now you can't go to your knees anymore to get out so The towel will probably go on to the toilet and you'll transfer that way

is there a reason you don't just sit on the toilet after instead of the floor?

My fiancée brought that exact stool home last month when he found it by a dumpster. It has a small defect on the leg, but it was easily fixed. 👍🏼

Those shower benches are amazing. My grandma used one because she had dementia and would sometimes forget where she was, if she was standing in the shower when it happened she would just start trying to get out of the shower, but if she was sitting in the shower she would call for help . So she could take her own shower without us worrying about her hurting herself trying to find us. It gave her some more independence for a short while 🥰

Make sure your bench is laminated otherwise it will start to mold

Maybe you've answered this before but on the subject of moisture, do you moisturize your leg after the shower or do you leave that part dry so you don't get a rash or irritation later? Or maybe you just wait a bit and let it soak in?

I have a chair and a clamp-on handle that helps me prevent injuries. I have a history of back and nerve pain that gets bad if I hunch or bend over. Now I can wash my legs and get in and out of the shower/bath easily. It doesn't get rid of my drowning phobia/trauma, though..... It takes hours to mentally prepare myself to go in and sometimes I just can't do it.

Where did you get that teak wood bench? I would love something like that!!!

How do you bathe on holiday?

I have to use a bath chair because I have really bad neuropathy in both legs. When I get out of the shower, I'll put a towel on the toilet and sit down there to dry off because if I sit on the floor, it'll take me nearly an hour to stand up again.

Does it hurt wearing your prosthetic?

What about the shower head adjustment? Water at first is usually cold, takes a few moments to get warm, then adjust it at the right level. Is your show head lower level for you?

Enjoy it while you're young. i'm several decades older and it's hard getting up from the floor with my prosthetic on. I've no hope getting up with it off. My bench has a backrest and protrudes past the side of the tub with two feet on the bathroom floor
