I was completely shocked you didn't drop the transmission on the first attempt. I'm really impressed you didn't even lose the reverse gear after all those attempts.

I was just picturing the reverse gear completely smooth with metal chucks in the transmission fluid.

And I always thought if you put manual in reverse while driving forward at speed, you'd leave you your entire transmission on the road behind you, but I'm still not going to try it.

Most manual transmissions have a gate type system that engages when you are going forwards and it’s made to stop you from going into reverse accidentally, I have an 02 subaru impreza and I accidentally went from 5th into reverse in traffic going 80km/h and the gate failed but I have since tried it on backroads and the gate has worked fine so that is why it was so hard to get into reverse

People will see skid marks on the road and think “I wonder if there’s an interesting story behind that” 😂

I drive a kia rio 5 speed and the reverse is with first gear, just pull up the lever.... I put mine in reverse to flash my white lights to the car behind me, but I NEVER lift my foot off the clutch ... so nothing happens to my speed or damaged anything- I only have the reverse lights come on and off 3 times

My friend’s 1991 Accord just didn’t have reverse because a passenger got mad at him and put it in reverse while they were going 70+ on the highway. Once, after another friend bought the car, he ended up downhill stopped with a mailbox right in front of him. We all had to push the car uphill so he could steer clear of it. The experiment in this video definitely ruined reverse in that car…
