Impressions of a Country on the Edge: My flying visit to Chisinau, Moldova...

Doesn't look very interesting or inviting

I spent time in Moldova staying in both Orhei and Chisinau. I was in the Country to watch football. I had a great time and really enjoyed my visit. I felt completely safe and found the people to be friendly. It was very cheap indeed. There were EU flags flying across large parts of the Capital. I'd recommend a trip to Moldova for sure.

I also went on the Bucharest-Chisinau night train. But on my way back i took a bus across the border to Iasi in Romania and took a flight home from there. The night train was definitely an interesting experience, but one trip is enough i think, hahaha

Back of the beyond- Moldova . Inspite of everything I still think there are many things worth seeing and experiencing here . I hope things look up after the country does integrates into the EU fold . Thanks for taking us around and yes gee Whizz is certainly no whiz for dropping customers right in the middle of nowhere without salvation.

And we still have McDonald's but it's not that popular!

As living in England and I am from Moldova,if you are born in Moldova and live there, you have a different prestective even in the Summer.I miss Moldova!

Chisinau is weird. It has some brutalist and modernist charm, but the overwhelming feeling of poverty and of most young people leaving for other countries (mostly to nearby Romania as I heard) is very depressing

I've been to Chisinau once about 20 years ago. It was very Soviet style - some nice architecture but otherwise rather "grim". It was fascinating to watch your video and see how it's changed - definitely more modern and a lot more to see. The streets still seem fairly quiet. I guess it's a city that hasn't developed as much as e.g. Kyiv or Bucharest. Very interesting video.

Moldova is a poor country but ypu see less misery there than in most westenr european and north american cities. Moldova is one of the place in the world where people dring more alcool, but you rarely see people drunk in public. The country have it's problems, but the civility of it's people is undeniable.

27 August 1991 is the correct date of Moldovan independence, 31 August 1989, the Supreme Soviet adopted the Language Law, officially using the Romanian language as the only "state language.

I visited Moldova recently, very much highly recommended, beautiful and the food is gorgeous, despite it's very real struggles. My favourite part was sleeper train from Bucharest via Işai, it's like stepping back in time!

Moldova is very old and it looks like it has been forgotten…very quiet. Wow I can’t believe they actually have a McDonald’s. Always interesting exploring with you on your journeys 🤗.

Moldova looks very down at heel - apart from the grand old buildings which speak of an earlier era.

Lovely video. I was there in June and loved it - flew in on LOT with no trouble, went to Transnistria (well worth a visit) and took the overnight train to Bucharest. It's a lot better in that direction.

A trip to Gaughazia, Old Orhei, and a bee aviary I think the bee place was called Conical Miere. All awesome.

Ia Mania was an amazing thing I got to see by accident but its like an annual traditional clothing festival.

A phrase i used a lot was Nu Inteleg. I dont understand.

I can tell its a bit better to visit in Summer rather than Autumn or Winter.

There was a really cool butterfly garden if i remember right at the amusement park.

A fun game at that park its Valea Moril (sp) but find a tiny prince hidden in the park. It was fun to spent hours looking for him.

I was in Moldova for two months in 2022 I loved it it was during summer.

I plan on going to Chisinau next March as the first stop among many in the Balkan region. If I rent a car in Chisinau, am I permitted to take it across the border into Romania, Bulgaria etc?

Hi I am from Moldova and to be honest I am soo happy that you liked your trip to this country and also surprised because there is just few people who don’t look at the bad parts but try to look at the better ones ❤ This video reminded me of how poor actually Moldova is 🙁 but this doesn’t stop us [Moldovans] from believing that our country can get better so when (if) you visit Moldova again, I hope it’ll be better ❤

I loved Chisinau, I was there for 4 days then onto transnistria (pridnestrovie) for 4 days. It was an amazing adventure! The snack van next to Ventura park was so good also. I will definitely return one day & do it all again 😊
