When Atem used mind crush (collapse of the heart) on Kaiba in the manga it basically made him a better person than before because it shattered the evil in his heart and made him comatose for quite a while while he put back together his own heart in the form of a puzzle. This didn’t stop Kaiba from being prideful however but he did stop trying to kill Yugi and his friends and instead duelled him.

IM sorry but tea calling Kaiba bad because of a fraudulent win after yugi did some insane asspulls and shot a freaking mammoth graveyard with a fairy arrow equip card which then made the blue eyes ultimate rot and lose attack points every turn??? Even as a kid i was screaming "Bullshit" at that fight. yugi was just full on cheating

It should be mentioned that Kaiba does give up on his dream post-Duel Monsters Anime. He moves on to designing more ways to duel and help duelists like building a duel academy. This is because he witnessed the final duel between Yugi and Atem and acknowledged that Yugi was the true Duelist and not Atem. In the Manga, Kaiba was never present in the final duel so there always was doubt in his mind about the legitimacy of Yugi's win over Atem and thus the flame of vengeance never faded leading into the construction of the time machine/Dark Side of Dimensions.

Well ... Yugi is kinda best duelist alive, he beat both atem and kaiba and has 2/2 against them, just saying xd he even best kaiba in DSOD where kaiba laughs at end which signifies how much he grown and that he can accept that someone like yugi have beaten atem and that it wasnt a mere flock

The one error I do have to point out is Gozaburo Kaiba didn't run a game company rather Seto turned it into one when he became majority shareholder and effectively president and renamed it Kaiba Electronic Gaming Corporation.

You forgot when Yugi & Kaiba teamed up to defeat The Big 5's 5 Headed Dragon during the aftermath of Duelist Kingdom. At first Kaiba hated working with Yugi, Joey & Mai, but when Joey, Mai AND his little brother mokuba got defeated by the Five Headed Dragon, Kaiba swallowed his pride & worked with Yugi to created the Dragon Master Knight to defeat The Big Five's Five Headed Dragon to rescue mokuba & friends.

Kaiba should have bought an insurance on Mokuba getting kidnapped. He would have become a lot richer than he already was.

They should have written a duelist that appears in all of the shows.
Instead the only thing to be featured in all shows was Kuriboh in different forms

Dark side of dimensions is a sequel to the manga, not the anime, manga kaiba wasnt at the final duel so hence why he wanted to find atem, anime kaiba moved on.

How can you not even mention the Pyramid of Light movie!? He not only crushes Pegasus without even using any Blue Eyes, was poised to win his rematch with Yugi before its interrupted, a rematch where yugi literally had his best cards ever out, and saves the day in said movie with Blue Eyes Shining.

And then theres the other movie. This video shouldve been twice as long!

Kaiba was never there for the final duel.

Kaiba only gave Yugi that card for the finals because Ishizu said that if he (Kaiba) does not hepp Yugi defeat Marik, she'll remain on the island and blow up with him (Merik). Kaiba draws a paralel between this situation and how he desperately wanted to save Mokuba using any means. So, he decides to help Yugi, but only because of Ishizu.

I'll say this until the day I die. Kaiba should have been the one to put Atem to rest. He was the rival and Yugi already proved himself against Bakura. Because Kaiba was not Atem's last dual, what Atem told him after their Battle City duel was never proven. And besides that with Kaiba's deck and skills there would not have been as much plot induced stupidity in the final dual.

King of Games is about playing chess, checkers, russian roulette, puzzle solving, tabletop RPGs, solitaire etc.

The Duel Monsters series has nothing to do with the "King of Games" meaning, it’s a show where they played trading cards with duel disks, which sorta reminds me of Pokémon, but with cards. 🤣

I don't know mate. To me it always looked like - and the anime, manga and DSOD confirmed it - that little Yugi was in fact as good if not better as Atem, except for his lack of confidence in himself, both by physical and mental aspects. Him beating Atem, Diva and then Kaiba - the last two being one after another - completely cemented that for me. If anything, the original Atem was more of a powered up evil alter ego than a proper person who just happened to be imprisioned into the puzzle. I think that Kazuki Takahashi thought of that midway during the manga, so that it would not be THAT dark - after all, a hero who's ready to commit cruel torture and murder on a property that was getting more and more marketable to an all audiences card game was a bit of a tough pillow to swallow. It also ties well with the "coming of age of an immature child hero to a full fledged confident man with his friends" that almost all of japanese media targeted towards shonen audiences strives for.

Kaiba is still a hell of a character and steals the spotlight often, but Yugi is the true king.
