Diana meant so much to so many people. Her impact is like no other. Also as a gay man it’s super touching to see these gay friends remain friends for so many years (see the other videos on this channel!) And for her to hold the hand of a gay man with AIDs when no one would during the early 90s…cemented her as an ally and a gay icon!

I'm Indonesian, and I was only 11 when I heard the news on TV. I got really shocked and went right off to tell my mom. She stopped her laundry to rush to the TV. That was the first (and the only) moment we reacted in such a way, which we'd never show when we heard a 'stranger' passing away. Looking back on that shocking moment, I still hardly believe how Princess Diana's kind heart and generosity could truly embrace people 7000 miles away from where she was. It's a great blessing to have people still praying for her decades after her death. Her love is invaluable.

I remember waking up with my Aunt and the TV was on. I was 7y/o. I didn't understand what was going on. I remember watching the procession and the Elton John singing "Candle in the Wind". That's why as an adult I'm interested in Royal stuff. Not the kind that tabloids champion. I found out how bad tabloids were slandering her left and right. I refuse to take in their garbage. Never forget how much she had suffered towards the last days of her life.

I played princess Diana in my schools wax museum it was such a cool and honourable role because I got to learn and become the powerful princess and human being she was to everyone she met and those that she didn’t even know. It’s so sad that she died, I wish she could’ve still been alive today so that we could have her wonderful, kind heart still here.

In an age before internet she was another level of fame and public interest. My father woke me up after I’d had a very heavy night. I remember going downstairs and the family, particularly my mother, were in shock. It was huge news in uk and also the world.

Wow. I was 4 years old when this happened so I do not remember it. Thank you for posting the CNN footage of the news and announcement. I have read a lot about Princess Diana and came to admire her that way. Her compassion for people was amazing and certainly has had an impact on my career as a doctor. She is still touching people like me. We visited London in 2019, but we went in November. Althorpe, the estate where she grew up and place where she was laid to rest wasn't open to the public at that time of year. We plan to go again to visit that site. When we went to France, one of the places we went to was to the tunnel where she died, the Pont de l'Alma tunnel. The bridge above it is actually an unofficial, but seemingly, official memorial for Princess Diana. We left some flowers. People still leave items to pay tribute to Princess Diana there. People may not realize that Princess Diana is still touching younger generations. She will never be forgotten and will always be loved! Thank you for this video! Amazing heaviness that filled the room when they announced her death. 😢

The fact that the guy screamed after seeming so calm gave me goose bumps. Immediately changed the air. It was a damn shame. People like her never stay for very long… the people who chased her killed her. The driver killed them. It’s just a shame. If she’d had a seatbelt on she would have been fine.
But like I said, rare creatures like her never stay for very long…

Me I was in a car driving back home from Longreach QLD Australia when it came over the radio, listen to the hold thing unfold over the radio. Poor Dianna, if only she had never refused Royal Protection, she would be alive today, Royal protection would have never let her into a car with a driver who was half snozzled from a very good evening.

Very interesting reading everyone's comments here. Those that were alive and those that weren't and how Dianas life impacted people even after her death.
Even though I was 19 at the time, I don't recall it having any impact on me.  I grew up in a small town, and this happened pre internet, and in those days I hardly watched any TV.
What I do remember is how upset my Mom was and for weeks after.
I also remember how for what seemed like a year after, Diana front covers of every and all publications everywhere.
The closest relatable event of that magnitude I had witness was the OJ car chase a few years prior.

I watched the paris hilton doc and she said she basically started the influencer thing because her picture was worth a million dollars... but I think Diana was the real influencer. Her picture in 1997, on the yacht, led to the photographer (Mario whoever, he doesn't deserve me knowing his name) being the first one to make a million dollars off of a single photo.

If I was a paparazzi back then I would have flown to wherever she was to claim my million dollar pic. And that's what they all did. Flooded her, drowned her until she ultimately died..... The fact that no one could be held responsible is a crime in itself. One that should fester in all of our souls until photographing people without consent becomes a crime.

Googletranslation↓

"I am Japanese, but I feel that Princess Diana was truly wonderful, chasing freedom and happiness with pure sincerity.

However, at the age of 19 at that time, I only learned about her past after the accident. If I had known it back then, I believe I would have had the same reaction.

I think this video captures not acting, but simply the history of that time. Watching it made me understand how much she was loved even in a foreign land, so I'm glad I could see this video.

She may have worn glass slippers once, but perhaps what she needed was not glass slippers after all. To the more wonderful Princess Diana than Cinderella, a toast."

a guy from my school died a few months back in a car accident, I didn't know him well but I knew him decently and he was in some of my classes. His friend was an asshole so I didn't want to associate with them, but nowadays I just feel bad for not treating him nicely (not that I bullied him or something like that, I was just very dismissive whenever he said something to me cause I didn't know if he was gonna disrespect or harass me like his friend did). Never knew him closely, but just like these guys the news hit hard and fast, and it hurt more than I thought it would
