lol just let this fking console die already, if Nintendo doesn't step up and release a better one then its their loss.

Switch is my favorite console, but i wouldn't recommend anybody by a switch this year especially if nintendo had a new console coming out this year.

The answer is Yes. Nintendo switch despite being 7-8 years old, the library is massive, the games have lots of variety (including Japanese games, go to playasia), and gameplay still holds up.

See the hard thing for most wannabe gamers is that Nintendo Switch doesnt have the best graphics and that makes them upset because they demand graphics before gameplay every single time, however, as Nintendo has proven multiple times with the Nintendo switch has repeatedly outsold Xbox and playstation this past console generation. Nintendo actually took the longest month-to-month sales record for most consoles sold under the nintendo switch. We are also not including games either.

Not to mention the online games allow you to play: NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and EVEN SEGA GENESIS all under a affordable yearly payment program (not monthly, Yearly).

Nintendo is still very relevant and despite the nay sayers, its still a good purchase. We arent even including the better motion controls, easy to set up interface, and the quickest plug and play setup ever.

Obviously the drawbacks most people are going to say is: thumbstick drift or joycon drift, but i still have my original 2017 joycons with my original switch and still no stick drift or joycon drift.

My new series x from 2020 has stick drift after 2 years which i had to get repaired, my Nintendo switch controller, still fully functional.
Thats my experience anyway, just giving an informed choice. Stay awesome.

Good thing I got the ROG Ally with an upgraded 2TB ssd and I can play retro games - Wii, PS3 and Switch at 60 fps under 1920x1080 upscale graphics at 20W custom profile. Thank God I don't have to pay extra $20 a year just to play emulated games. I'm also building my first gaming rig this 2024, fingers cross I won't go back to being a console peasant

The Switch is still worth buying in 2024, I got my Switch OLED in 2023 and I’m still loving it, I had a PS4 earlier in 2023 and there’s a reason I don’t have that PS4 anymore with over 20 games and i currently have over 30 games and it’s a breath of fresh air with the biggest and best library and nobody comes close to competing with the Switch in that regard. In terms of performance with the recent Pokemon games, it’s nothing to do with them being too ambitious for the Switch hardware because Scarlet and Violet doesn’t even look that good to begin with and Game Freak are just incompetent developers with the Switch hardware especially when you see Hogwarts Legacy running on it, you could make the case for Bayonetta 3 being a bit too ambitious for the Switch hardware yet that it still runs better any of the recent Pokemon games. And with great games still coming out for the Switch in 2024.

Come to think of it, why do smartphones get an annual refresh while hand held consoles dont? A flagship smartphone cost more than twice a nintendo switch. So why wouldnt handheld get an annual refresh with upgraded specs as well? If youre saying its because of game development, then why is it that mobile games work even on newer smartphones? If you say its optimization, then PC has to develop for numerous hardware configurations. Technology advances fast, I hope we just get over this generation refresh and go for anual or even once every 2 years refresh just like PC GPUs.

I bought an switch oled 4 months ago, here's an important thing you must keep in mind, the price of the games are unbelievable, it doesn't matter if they're 7 years old or the performance is shit, you still have to pay 70 dollars, the switch is the first console I jailbreak and it's sooo good now

Well, switch 2 wont be slim. More power comes with bulkiness, then more power means more battery consumed means more bigger battery, and all that means is the next switch wont be slim anymore 😂

Imagine a Nintendo Switch 2 powered by an Apple M1 chip… The M1 is ARM just like Switch’s current chip and it’s still more powerful than most SoCs out there (and it’s turning four years old soon so it’s cheaper than ever). This is exactly what Nintendo need now.

I love my switch, no it’s not the most powerful console, hell it’s not even the most powerful handheld. It’s also not my main console but I would never sell it. The exclusives are super fun, creative, and full of heart. The party games and couch co op games are always a blast with friends and family and the fact that it’s super light and portable it goes everywhere with me while traveling.

should you buy a Nintendo switch in 2024? the answer is NO.

1. you may get the switch light which is cheap, but the games are overpriced, should you pay for games anyways? we literally have steam unlock. the games are free, get yourself a PC.

2. I get that the Nintendo switch is fun to play with when travelling, but let's be honest your jobless and broke, nobody travels that often. wake up.

3. You're probably almost in your 30s and you're still living in your mum's basement ya? and you have a pink Nintendo switch and you bought a $60 Peppa pig game. please have some self-reflection.

4. there is this thing called yuzu emulator in PC where you can literally pirate any switch games you want and it has better graphics too.

so is it worth buying a switch in 2024, the answer is absolutely NO?

are you a moron?

Watching this on a Switch V1 with switchdroid dual boot next to atmosphere. I like this console but I do think that it would be useless without the hekate bootloader :D had my switch V2 for years and the only game I finished was Breath of the Wild. With game pass I can play whatever. Gonna test Nvidia Geforce now. Cloud play is enjoyable.

I play my PS Vita regularly, Switch still worths it. Just bought the OLED model last week and I have fun. The first party games are expensive though. I bought a physical Xenoblade Chronicles 3 new for about $50. Bought Rune Factory 4 secondhand for $20. My Chinese new year holiday will be a blast lol.

You should only buy the switch after the switch 2 releases and the price of it drops immensely. Thats the "true" price of Nintendo hardware.

The Switch is a largely unimpressive device from a technical perspective. You can't have a handheld operate as a console without serious compromises. Here's hoping the Switch 2 offers a powerful docked experience comparable to the Xbox/PlayStation with a portable variant when you want to take it on the go.
