I've been looking for something like this for a year now! I'd like to print a bust of my mom, can't really scan her or use photogrammetry because she passed away and don't have multiple perspective photos from the same moment so 2D images are all that I have left!

Too bad that the AI tool is still a bit underdeveloped, because just as we can guess from a front view of a car what the rest looks like, especially if we recognize the vehicle model, so should the Ai.

The AI should recognize that it is a hydrant and that it has perfect technical shapes and not artifacts floating in the air. But in a few months or a few years, it will be able to do that too. Just like when I see a picture of a hydrant, I can model a perfect model of a hydrant.

Chimeraland, a game ive played for 2 years now just notified us that it is shutting down ans we are all so upset. We are desperate to find ways to have memorabilia and id cry to be able to have little figures. I want to make models of my pets in the game so im gathering as many photos and videos as i can before it closes for good on March 30th.

What s the cost to say make a statue made a person a couple of feet high? Like is 3D printing super expensive or? Ballpark me.

Those generated by AI are not optimized for professional use. It's only for references, tests, or for first time users.

Maybe it’s best to choose a well known object or one with plenty of historical references to get best results. We draw best based on what we already know so that might mean the same for AI.

I am just waiting for the moment when someone uses a Games Workshop box cover to print out some miniatures with the help of this AI. Ensuing legal battle will be so legendary, it will put anything within 40k lore to shame.😂

I'd only use it if I wanted to make a 3d model of a family member or something I wouldn't use it for a creative project. I'd feel like I'm cheating

Multimodal models will create almost perfect models within the next 4-6 months, and they will probably also be game-ready with correct topology, and most likely weights and skeletons for animations.

Finally, I'll be able to save multiple months of time for my solo project thanks to these.

This is too low res to be useful. It looks good when it's textured because once you will look at the 3d model, you will be disappointed.
However, it could be useful as a starting point to either build on it by adding details, use AI to add details, or something like TopoTransfer in Houdini to deform a good known 3d model so that it looks more like the target mesh (like a pose)

Even though the generated models are pretty meh, I thought it might be fun to see if it can compare to PifuHD in saving some time in the early stages of modelling.... I uploaded an image of a human bust and set CSM going. At the same time I opened Zbrush and speed sculpted the same bust until CSM said the preview model was ready. Comparing the 2 (CSM generated model vs what I could sculpt myself) CSM was a LONG way off getting anywhere near to what I could do in the same amount of time. These models will surely get better but industry wise we're already seeing performance plateaus, over-training issues, and a comparative lack of creativity vs our human artists in image generation for concepting. We already use PifuHD on our own GPU stack for 3D and that does a much better job than CSM, but it's still nowhere near outperforming an experienced 3D artist, though it does help with proportions and general shape to get started with organic shapes. Hard surface stuff it's more of a hindrance than a help. IMO the fear many artists have is unfounded (obviously depending on industry) and most can feel pretty darn safe for the next few years atleast. Our team has actually grown in size over the past 2 years, rather than shrunk, and we use AI sparingly not because we have to, but because our team still outperforms AI from a cost vs productivity and creativity perspective. AI actually ends up costing us more for output that never makes it through to production alot of the time. I still remember a video from about a year ago that was titled "AI to 3D technology that will break entire industries"... Yeah, nup.

"IT´s free" well no, it´s stealing your data and everything you make gets added to their catalog.

Also none of this can be protected with copy right, not to mention none of this is properly optimized for any use case.
As so often with AI, it´s all bling, no substance.

Well, it is not free service. Whatever you load to the page it trains their AI and becomes their property if I understand the rules well. You can download it but they can use it for whatever they wish afterwards, including for profit.
