ОтветитьI love Garden Ninja. He’s so clear & his enthusiasm is infectious. He inspires (me to garden for the first time in my life, never before). I am getting a shed built with a reinforced roof in hope, but with 1 reservation. My neighbour has a gigantic by-fence sycamore that causes saplings all over my garden. Wouldn’t such saplings’ roots puncture the green roof membrane? Can this be prevented? How?
ОтветитьCan my company hire you installing green roof , the nuncio reality group pararangon realtors Texas.
ОтветитьBrillo 🙂🤗🙂
ОтветитьAnother watch before attempting to build my bin dock. Will check out the Green Roofs Direct as we get -temperatures for about 4 months and drought nowadays, so could be a long term win 😎
ОтветитьHi mate. Have you ever done a concrete flat roof? If so,any video links, please?
ОтветитьHey ninja. Can you give me link on Amazon or wherever where I could buy liners you used?
ОтветитьDo you staple the membrane to the bottom (lowest level) wooden length of frame, or overlap roof felt to allow drainage?
ОтветитьLove it
ОтветитьI had an old kennel that i layered a sheet of industrial plastic onto it then layered and nailed carpet to that , then placed soil with sedum seeds onto a layer of chicken wire. Weeks later a braw flowering roof .
ОтветитьI need this on my tin roof bird aviary. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺

ОтветитьExcellent stuff my young friend brilliant vid,, and brilliant look, and wee dog, Could you's give me a piece of advice can this be used on a much bigger shed say 14x22ft shed/workshop obiviously you'll have to make the roof considerably stronger, but any thing else I should know???
ОтветитьCan’t wait to see you lawnmower that roof 🤣
ОтветитьHi great video ,can the water collected from a green roof be used in pot plants ,Ta ,G.

ОтветитьI would like to try to do this green roof on my shed, so thank you for sharing, could you confirm how the excess water drains from the roof please?

ОтветитьUseful video and love your dog!
ОтветитьSo the plastic and foil were good enough to keep the wood from getting wet and rot? I want to do the same directly on my shed
ОтветитьI'm using this for the top of a hay feeding station! Thanks for the guide!
ОтветитьWhat did people use to use before thick plastic?
ОтветитьGuess I must ask why??? Can see the point if it's covering up something but the shed is still very much visible only it's got a green hat on... Like the video..
ОтветитьStep One - have an adorable dog :-)
ОтветитьNice job I am going to use this idea on a bike store👍
ОтветитьNice video but I would be interested what kind of mi of substrate it is. Vermiculite or perlite etc?
Also I am wondering how the water drains off the roof.
Just what I needed to know, thank you for the information! Great video in itself too. X
ОтветитьCan you use standard garden fleece or is this a specific fleece that should be bought from a specialist? Thank you!
Ответитьlooks great, but easy on environmentally friendly PR pls... 2 layers of plastic plus another plastic-based membrane, plus more plastic soil packaging.
ОтветитьCould you do similar but have like meadow flowers growing out of it? I live on a former industrial estate and not really seeing a lot of wildlife, I thought having maybe meadow flowers growing from my shed roof might encourage bees and other insects to come?
ОтветитьI am thinking about installing a green roof on our small horse barn. Have you ever heard of someone doing this over a barn? I've seen homes and garden sheds, but never a barn. Worried I'm missing some problem that would crop up down the road.
ОтветитьVery helpful video! I am.looking t do this on my car port roof. Two questions: what is the maximum slope for the substrate? Also, what do you do to provide drainage to the green roof? Thanks.
Ответитьi am soooo going to do this . I did this before ,but i removed turf from an old roof Then i placed plastic covering roof within wood frame. Then i placed an old carpet on top of plastic . Then i placed soil then a mat of chicken wire on top of soil . Then i stuck clumps of sedum into the gaps in the wire . Watered for 2 weeks , i was able to lift roof as it was hinged, and it did,not fall off. I think it may be still there ?thanks g.n...good vid..
ОтветитьWhat would you propose for gutter and drainage?
ОтветитьLove it!!!
ОтветитьStep 1 must be to reinforce the shed. A shiplap shed from a DIY store will not take the weight and this is potentially dangerous without an additional warning. The instructions for DIY sheds generally advise that the roof is not strong enough to stand on, and even a small green roof weighs a lot more than a person. Consider that each bag of sand/grit is 25kg when dry. So just three bags will weigh as much as a person. Rain and snow will make it considerably heavier. Be safe :)
