I have to say, the controversies surrounding Made In Abyss are confusing as it’s really just an art form, and classically subverts expectations in being a cutesy show by shocking viewers, which many many shows have done in the past such as Toyo Ghoul, Attack on Titan and Madoka Magica. Are we gonna call them out too? I think people should make their own minds up.

And Made in Abyss, the anime in the beginning and later constantly tells you how dangerous and disturbing things can get. Over and over again, and then when they show those disturbing things, that's the series being consistent with its own rules and writing.

Oh no the series that shows underaged kids going through R rated stuff is being met with controversy who would've thought. Also fyi I did do my research on this, on the surface it SHOULD hit everything I love to see in protagonists but it''s weighed down heavily by whatever kinks the author is on. Now at the end of the day I don't think ill of anyone who likes it and certainly don't want anyone canceled for it. But to act like there's nothing in the series that warrants this type of reaction is you being delusional. It crosses sooo many lines in the name of being "Dark" and "heavy" you can't expect everyone to be ok with what goes on in it.

K-POP stans are some of the vilest group of people on the internet, and I am VERY genuinely concerned about this parasocial behaviour.

Twitter is cancer, that's why I never bothered using it. Most people on there are ignorant and love to complain about anything. People always love to target anime but how about all the other live action shows that have horrible or graphic content? How about western cartoons like Rick and Morty or Invincible, no one gets called those things for watching those shows. Morty is technically a kid, Mark in season 1 is still a high schooler. Just blows my mind people can't understand the beauty in media if it's not portrayed in a happy/peaceful manner.

Yeah the author's into definitely illegal stuff but it isn't put in enough to overpower the majority of the content in the manga. If it's a fanservice that doesn't appeal to us, we just look past it
