I love the look of this stitch. Everyone comments how lovely it would be for a scarf. Is it not suitable for anything wider, such as a shawl? I am looking for a new stitch to use on a prayer shawl which would measure 24-30 inches wide.

Perfect scarf pattern for my donation knitting group!

One change - I slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last stitch. Doing that gives a smooth edge, which I prefer.
