DJI RC Overview - My Favorite Drone Remote!

Do not get the rc controller it is TRASH!!
It has the worst signal of any dji controller ive ever used. And to top it offit has a ridiculous lag on the screen. After a while i had to get out my air2 s with old controller and it blew the mavic 3 classic and rc controller away with its range and buttons do stuff when you hit you them even on a old Android. That controller is just a scam and complete ripoff sending mine back.

I know that this is a year later BUT... Each I fly with the RC my hand hits the screen and I lose the picture until I get back in the app. Loving the RC Pro!

I bought the Mavic 3 Pro. Do I need to use my iPhone hot spot to run on RC?

Problem with this review is you never really delve into the actual settings with the RC controller. You simply conduct an exterior walk around.

The screen on the new RC remote for the Mini 3 Pro is not as bright as described. I was testing the new drone and remote for the fist time yesterday. The day was bright and the screen brightness was at max and I couldn't see the screen well. Almost all detail was lost. Sorry but comments at the 5 minute mark were misleading.

I just wonder of those differences from the RC controller to that Pro Controller justify paying $900 bucks for? I just don't get why you cannot buy a good Radio Master or something in that range with a screen that would give you a ton more options and cost so much less. It sucks DJI works so hard to make so much incompatible in this area!

I hear the rc controller have the worst range. The n1 have better range. Is that true. How far before the rc controller lose connection?

How about the brightness on the RC? I am using my 6,4" phone with 1200 nits on my RC N1and even that seems not great in direct sunlight, so I feel like the lcd will not be of much use in sunlight with just 700 nits. The RC Pro however is way more expensive and since I would not benefit from most of it functionality it seem a lot of money for just extra 300 nits.. And it looks like there is no RC N1 option with the Mavic 3 Pro anyway..

Please which is the best and compatible smart controller for dji air 2… I use the controller that came with the air 2 where I have to attach my iPhone to it. My frustration has been with the screen going dark, it makes it difficult to use outside. I even change to a higher end iPhone hoping to solve the dim screen issue. But a new phone dint solve that…

I'm brand new to drones and to all of this, but wanted to drop a comment I just figured out: the host port on the bottom of the controller works with a USB-C set of headphones. I'm going through the tutorial videos on the RC controller with the audio from the training class coming through the headphones. Would be cool to see if you can listen to the mic on the drone while it's in flight the same way.

Any range issues ?

I had the RC for two weeks now and thinking of returning it. It is a more cumbersome process than the N1. Yes you don’t need a phone but offline maps are not as accurate as real GPS. By the time I connected the sticks (which is a careful process) and made sure I had my hotspot connected to it (since it doesn’t automatically connect every time), it was a longer process than the N1. With the N1 you install phone, connect cord and DJI fly launches in a matter of second and you are in.

Hi Billy, since the sd card is for screen recording, will a base A1 level 1 card be enough. Obviously the high speed one is for the actual drone but I was wondering if the RC card could be of a lower tier. Thanks

Well the second dial opposite of the gimbal dial control shutter speed similar to the old Mavic Pro or is it only for zoom?

You said your phone screen is dim but the iphone 13 pro has a peak brightness of 1000 nits wich is higher than the 700 nits on the dji rc, correct me if im wrong but i your phone should be brighter the the dji RC.

Damn dude you didn't talk about the right scroll wheel. I have a Mavic 3 Classic and the right scroll wheel will NOT do a continuous zoom. It does a hard switch in zoom power from 1 to 3 only. Does do this with the Mini 3 Pro?

Just ordered the RC remote since at this time it is now compatible with my Air 2s, I haven't gotten it yet as I just ordered it today, my biggest concern that it being a bit larger is that it won't fit in the case that came with the fly more combo for the Air 2s though it should. Great video!

So the transmission isn’t as good as the n1 controller? yet it’s a £250 controller..I want to buy it, but if transmission is worse than the N1 ( which I’m hating) I won’t be buying it

I consider myself lucky that after dragging my feet for a while when I finally picked my first serious drone it was the Mini 3 Pro with the RC Controller. Its so perfect for my application. It serves as an extension to my landscape photography hobby where ergonomics and build quality is much appreciated. The rest is up to the user’s skill.
So, yes the new controller has been a dependable and reliable accessory with extremely good battery life. My only complaint is the finicky double swipe of the screen to get into the settings

Is it compatible with mini 2?

I'm still pi**ed about the lack of compatibility with the original expensive RC controller that works with my Mavic Zoom and Air 2. I will NOT pay for another high end controller because they wont make it work with newer drones that use OC 3 versus OC2. I know they could do it except it would hurt sales and perhaps a bit of performance. So no more drones for me as the two I have now do all that can be reasonably expected. If Autel wasn't such a loser as a company, I would move to their superb drones.

Would be great if you could trigger a pre-programmed gimbal move with a function button. Like a simple pan up from A to B. Or even have the bottom to function buttons be gimbal up and the other gimbal down. That dial is difficult to use I think.
