05-08 kobe was insane. Kobe improved his skills more than Jordan because he had to. He didn’t have Jordan’s athleticism and large hands. With their style of play, it was very risky to play because it was very obvious if they didn’t play well you can easily blame them.

The problem I have with lebron (which is probably a good thing) is that his style of play really makes it hard to blame him for anything. His team will loose but you’ll look at stats and can’t blame him so you blame the teammates. When they win you look at levrons stats are like exactly the same even when he looses so then he gets the credit…. It’s a win win for him. I think that’s why Kobe always tried to taunt him early in lebrons career to take the last shot, because it forces you to take some form of blame

The two years including the one where Kobe got MVP, is the peak in terms of defensive era. That is what caused the NBA to just completely abandon defense. Scoring was at an all-time low include all the offensive metrics like number of possessions, etc. Oh and by the way, the 40+ scoring streak, 81 pts game, and 60 in 3 quarter vs best defensive team also happened during this low era.

Correction: I would not call it peak defensive era, more accurately is that those few years were the worst for scoring in NBA history.

Kobe nearly had a 3-peat with one other All-Star and zero top-75 talent. Lebron has played with more lottery picks than anyone in history. One other thing about Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. They played in a racist America. Today's people and players cannot fully grasp what that was like. They also didn't have private jets, freeze chambers, custom Nike's, private chefs, and so on. Further, Chamberlain was purposely and egregiously fouled! It was so bad he quit after his rookie season! NBA owners, referees, and opposing teams had a foul conspiracy against him. LeBron has never had to deal with anything like that let alone Dennis Rodman, Detroit, Indiana, or the NYK but Jordan and Bird did! They also allow carrying and traveling today which is ridiculous! So Lebron has every advantage in his career.

For me mj and kobe are my G.O.A.T's. They were cut from the same cloth. Nobody since them has had the same kind of will and determination to be the best at the thing they love most.
