It's almost freeing to learn a language without a feeling of requirement. I'm learning Arabic purely for fun. I just think it's a funny language to throw out that you know for somebody as white as me. Of course I know the significance of the language and its popularity it's just unconventional for a lower-middle-class white American living in the ruralest part of one of the most yee yee states to just know arabic with no requirement to do so. I don't know what about that is so funny to me but it is.
