It is very important for Saudi Arabia to be open to foreigners, so there will be more understanding in the world. I really appreciate Ambassador Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud for coming back to his old college for this dialogue at Oxford Union. Ambassador Bandar said that the Arab people do not like to interfere with other countries internal affairs. This is understandable. Many older cultures and societies do not get involved in other nations' affairs. The question is then why send Saudi military into Yemen to counter the Houthis? Ambassador Bandar has given his reason for continuing the conflict in Yemen because it is better for the Yemeni people. I am very concerned with justifying air raid for the good of the people you are dropping bombs on. In comparison with US intervention since the 1981 in Afghanistan when President Reagan began the US conflict in Afghanistan by supporting the Afghan Freedom Fighters and their conflict with Soviet forces. The Afghan Freedom Fighters eventually became Islamic Extremists (bin Lade, Al Qaeda, & Taliban) Jihadists who committed the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Then a protege of the right-wing conservative agenda of Reagan continued with President Bush Junior in October 2001 in response to the 9/11 attacks. Which President Bush Junior extended into Iraq on the false premises that Saddam supported the 9/11 terrorist and Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Of course, the war in Afghanistan continued until 2011 when President Osama realized the futility of the conflict and brought American soldiers home. So US involvement in Afghan went from 1981 to 2011. In addition, President Bush Junior extended the Afghan war to another war in Iraq for 9/11 from 2003 and is continuing today. Is this the type of success that Saudi Arabia want to engage in? The US tried to build a democratic nation in Afghan when the Afghan people have no idea what democracy is. The Afghan people certainly was unwilling to fight it. You cannot impose democracy on the Afghan people especially when they themselves are unwilling to fight for it. Is that what Saudi Arabia want to do in Yemen? After 30 years of bloody conflict and return home with nothing? For the very reason Afghan and Iraq has been a failure for the US I find it very hard to believe that Saudi Arabia would want to get involved in Yemen. Especially when Saudi Arabian people do not want to get involved with foreign affairs and the US costly failure in Afghan and Iraq. Ambassador Bandar claims that Saudi government has a 80% success rate of rehabilitating Saudi Islamic Extremist back into the Saudi society. Really? Is that possible? These Islamic extremists are willing to die (martyrdom) in Jihad for Islam and the Saudi government can reprogram them successfully. In one Frontline report, a Saudi physician said that when the 9/11 terrorist attacks happen most Saudis celebrated with a family barbecue. You cannot even change the average Saudi attitude but you can rehabilitate suicide extremists? The question and answer session is truly amazing. It is like a lot news on mass media. NONSENSE. Saudi Ambassador Bandar only honest answer was on the issue of Arabian and Israeli relations. Of course, the question was asked by a concern Oxford student. Britons are always more concerned about Israel than any other country including Great Britain. Ambassador Bandar gave an honest answer in response. On the issue of Palestinian homeland and Israel there must be compromise. Israel has the right to exist along with a homeland for the Palestinian Arabs. So Saudi Arabia is using natural gas to make hydrogen. Hydrogen? Burning natural gas to generate hydrogen? Is carbon dioxide released in the process?
