I’ve watched both cameras “cinematic” footage done by Filmmakers. Let me tell you that the GH5s has much more character and looks more filmic. I’d say a GH5s in the hands of a talented filmmaker beats the hell out of an A7siii amateur user.

Ive been looking at getting a GH5s Now after watching this video Ive decided to go with the Sony A7Siii
I mean the price is the same on both cameras right???

You gotta turn on "extended ISO" on the GH5S to enable up to 204,800 iso. This video gives the false impression that the GH5S doesn't go as high as the sony, but it does. You need to read the manuals before you give BS reviews.

So the S in G5S stands for "stink" and the S in A7S stands for "superior".

Compression(Perspective) only depends on the distances, but the lens distortion and the less blurry background made it look like it had a different compression.

The first I am seeing your video, you are hilarious!! Video comparison was actually pretty good as you tested just average scenarios, not perfect lighting conditions, cus many times ppl wont have that.

I've had my eyes on a GH5s for a long time but I'll admit the Sony is much better. Unfortunately though the price is a big factor, and for the content I'll be creating the GH5s will still do a fine job.

much more alive and real looking picture with greater depth.
smaller sensors allways looks more flat and cartoon.

Years old GH5s with micro 4/3 given a really tough competition to much newer and expensive A7 S3...

About compression of the mirror: On GH5S it is closer to the edge of the frame than on A7S III. Frame it the same way, and then you can compare compression. On Sony different things in your room, occupying different parts of the frame, are at different distances from the lens than on GH5S. Try to switch the cameras' sides and you will get different look. Also the voigtlander is so soft!

The Sony A7S III KILLS my Panasonic GH5s. I'm impressed. I love that auto focus, large sensor, variable frame rates in 4K and the incredible dynamic range. I am going to start putting money aside for one but am waition to see what Panasonic brings out in the GH6. If it competes witht the Sony I will stay MFT because I have invested lots of money on glass. My friends Katie and Axle were right about the Sony

Isn't that Voigtlander a manual-focus-only lens? That would explain why the autofocus didn't kick in at all on the GH5S...

Well, I just got a (barely) used GH5S for $900, so the GH5S wins.

If it weren't for market pressure delivered by the GH5 and s version, this Sony would likely still be a 8bit 420 camera. There's certain products that end up making all those that come after it better (regardless of brand). I think the GH5 had that impact. Still using it for commercial work =)

FWIW - I’ve been matching dslrs and B cam setups to Amira and Alexa footage for 4 years now. GH5s 10b 150&400 flavors currently is closest over any of Sony’s prosumer cameras (fs7 included). The hue/saturation rolloff into darker skin tones is where you are getting into most of the chroma and luma differences. Sony’s blues and magentas are very specific and are the main areas I have to adjust.

Hey buddy, the 10mm on Panasonic is still a 10mm with a extra 10mm crop which gives you 20mm.

That’s why it still have barrow distortion on the Panasonic. Crop sensors will always have a compromise and benefits at the same time.

So i've been watching a few of your videos now... If you were to livestream with say OBS, which camera would you go for? None of the webcameras avaliable today really feels premium to me.
On a sidenote i cant spend alot on a camera at the same time.. Wondering if there's something which feels better than a webcam but isnt as expensive as a "pure" DSLR..
