1) Mr Wolter - your language tips are embarrassing. Don't do it.
2) After many years of visiting Budapest I have always found the ubiquitous money exchange booths very reliable and straightforward, to the degree that it's better than ATMs if you like to travel with cash. Recently I was travelling from Budapest to Prague and got sorted out with Koruna at the right price in a Budapest railway station kiosk so I didn't have to deal with the notorious money changing in Prague.
3)Shop and restaurant staff are naturally honest and straightforward. The only instances I've had have been where they've given me too much change.
4)Finally, Hungary has a tipping culture. Please do 10%

He's absolutely right! Always make sure your ticket is validated! There's definitely certain trains you may be able to get away with it...but they will come out of nowhere and when you least expect it! Not worth the insane fines. I learned the hard way when I simply forgot on my way to school one day. EDIT: a metro ticket no matter the 72 hour or whatever may or may not cover the train or bus you're taking...they're separate depending on where you're going, so keep that in mind! Metro most just covers Budapest and surrounding
