Happy World Sight Day 2021! What are some things you a grateful for today?

Is there a cure for optic nerve damage yet?

I have acute keratoconus, and while I do use rpg lenses they are awful as I can't go a week without irritations or pains even after re sizing or extra methods for lubrication; or not being able to do things like drive because unless I wear them, I can't see anything 2 feet in front of me. I can't really recognize my kids at a distance unless I'm wearing them. That being said, I am grateful I can see somehow because rather go through the pain than be actually blind.

My vision is 20/800

My daughter went completely blind at a young age due to a brain tumour. There is a HUGE difference in quality of life between someone with no light perception at all and someone with some vision, even if legally blind. Circadian rhythm, social interactions, mobility, all impacted very differently. That being said, if you're going to go blind, best to do it as young as possible so you have time to adapt, we are grateful for that.

This is the best summary I've seen after years of looking for an acceptable demo for the sighted. Thank you! I've got Best, stage 5, a 95% loss. I use a big iPad to read from Kindle. It takes a long -long time to read a book. When I get tired of the effort, I have it read to me. I loved reading on my own so it's a challenge to let it go completely for audio only.

i have low vision, and my glasses give me such a bad headache especially when i’m reading or on the computer or doing school and so i have to take them off but then i can’t see anything unless it’s like really really close to my eyes which gives me another headache

Bro I swear the only reason I’m here is because I can’t find a reason for my eyes getting a flashbangs in my eyes constantly, and at first I thought it was being lightheaded but I literally had to hug a door frame yesterday because I was going to fall down since my body was losing function

I didn’t truly understand low vision till a neighbor of mine said he was legally blind. I had asked him where his car was? I said your walking here by me? He said he could see like 35 feet in front of him but after that it was blurry. He takes the bus to work daily.

Im legally blind on my left eye but im not on my right eye .......so am i legally blind or not......

thank you Dr. Allen for never using that friggin term "visually impaired." if something is visually impaired, they are ugly. if something is visually appealing, they are pretty. speak english people!! i am legally blind, mostly blind, very low vision or illegally sighted.

With my glasss i have 20/200 in my left eye and 20/20 in myright eye...my eyes are bi polar😅

Imagine an extremely blury image like 144p but even worse like 77 P. I have to be directly face to face to most large text objects to read them

Iv just been told by my optition im -2.00 in one eye and -2.21 in my other and has refered me to the hospital im not sure what it means but he said he did the best he can do with my glasses but i need to see a specialist in the uk legally blind is -2.5 but i dont know what any of it means

Thank for all your informed information. I have perihial vision loss glaucoma nerve damage and diabetic retinopathy which is not severe in the retinopathy sense. Had cateract surgery in one eye. Have problem changing from one form of light to another when I go outside. Everything is so hazy. Is there anything that can be done to correct this?

Diagnosed diabetic retinopathy, 31 March 2009. had many laser treatments. That helped not going totally blind.
Do not have cataracts.

Does anyone know anything about Bilateral Retinal Telangiectasis? That is the condition I have.

I had an OS RVO then year later RVO IN OD, shots both eyes. I can't seem to obtain a eye prescription to correct around the more or less blank spots. CAN THE EXAM JUST CORRECT FOR THE LETTERS I can see clearly when readi g the chart?? Probabably nothing will help

At 52 years old I was diagnosed with AMD? Unfortunately I had to stop treatment a year ago because I can no longer afford the cost of the eye injections. I've just had to resign myself to the fact that I will lose my central vision over time. I've noticed that in the last few months my vision has got worse. Looking at an amsler grid I now have significant distortion and a quite large grey blur when looking through my left eye. I have no idea how much longer I will be able to work or drive but there isn't much I can do about it other than wait for the inevitable.

All ive got is an astigmatism in both eyes, and im so thankful for my glasses! I cant read street signs without them. Thanks for the very informative video!

I have Central Serous Chorioretinopothy and it's like macular degeneration and it can lead to macular degeneration.

I really enjoyed your video. I have rod/cone or cone/rod dystrophy . Would love to have you explain this, as my friends don't get it. I am also color blind, and have photophobia. It happened when I was 73, now 76. Evidently a genetic disorder.. I stay in dark rooms, use sunglasses during the day, but my friends still think I should be able to see fine with sunglasses. Very irritating.

I got amblyopia and there's no treatment for this cause my age is 19

Hi there I'm I'm so glad I found you but I'm a newly blind person from go call my went blind overnight in my right eye and very little vision left in my left eye and I wanna know where I can get that device it sounds like it would be really helpful to me and I didn't see a link can somebody please get back to me to let me know where to get this device I really am struggling cause this is all new and it came on so suddenly and I wanna end my life actually but I'm trying to stay positive And hang in there thank you so much

I didn’t know that it was only considered legally blind if you had glasses on. Now I’m not sure about my eye condition anymore because it’s been so long since I’ve gone to the eye doctor

What a wonderful resource! My daughter has both 20/200 with correction and a 20% vision field. Your explanation is so helpful in helping me understand the parameters of her condition! She has myopathy of prematurity

I still have double vision with my prism lenses it’s corrected looking forward or in front of me but to the sides it’s still double to the right and left I have 20/30 vision with double vision. My glasses only correct some of the problem I’ve also had 3 surgery’s on my eyes they were not successful. Do this mean I’m partially blind or am I normal because my vision is corrected when I only look if front.the boon changes when I look right or left. Please let me know. I’ve worn glasses and also an eye patch.

So legal blindness is just partial blindness, while blindness is just blindness.
