Crack Password-Protected Microsoft Office Files [Tutorial]

Not working it gives "No password hashes loaded (see FAQ)" after running john --wordlist=/usr/share/wordlists/nmap.lst hash.txt please help

Actually my attempts at this failed, the generated hash.txt files was empty all the time!!

Was able to extract the hash and add to "hash.txt" but after that, getting errors like "No password hashes loaded (see FAQ)". Tried a few workarounds but no luck. Will revisit this at some point but if anyone else is seeing the same issue, please let me know if you figured it out.

I do store password of all my financial service account's in a word (odt file) with encryption (14 char). I feel more secure because one has to know where this file is located and ofcourse it has misleading name.

unable to get access file hash, getting error "Invalid OLE file"
the file may be of access 2003
can't we simply try bruteforce without calculating the hash?
