I know it might take a little longer but have you ever thought about pre-drilling the holes putting some glue on a wood dowel through them I think you can make some more dials pretty cheap

Don't worry about using spikes in the logs..the log diameter is big enough so you'll never split one.
Excellent job running the chainsaw between the logs..much better fit.
We built one years ago and used much the same method and aspen as well..

This is really impressive man. I like your work, and the way you explain each step of what you’re doing. Like how you sure up each log to flatten to the next log with your chainsaw or axe. Good work bro

We Love log cabins but every 2-3 years they have to be sand blasted and resealed.
A friend of ours built a log cabin next to a river and they have to reseal it every few years. He told me that he wished he had put the exterior in Hardi-Board like we did with our house.
Hardi-Board looks like wood shiplap but it’s made from concrete. It lasts longer than wood and it won’t burn

Here in my region of Brazil there is almost no use of this simple, incredible technique. Here in my region there are large areas of Eucaliptus Grandis plantations. You inspired me to make a very cozy and natural home. You are incredible!!! Thank you very much!!

Leaving a couple of those logs sticking out make a great place to stack wood with either stone or wood between the ground/firewood.

Could you use wooden pins/towel instead of nails?

Ответить
@MP-zf7kg
@MP-zf7kg - 28.10.2023 03:59

I'd just say pre-drill a hole for your nails, through the top log and a bit into the bottom log. The logs are going to shrink away from the nails anyway, and the nails really just help resist shear. Most of your "stay in place" is based on friction and weight.

Depends on the wood, but the hold can be a couple 1/16ths or more smaller than the nail.
I do really like that you employ advisors to help you along.

6.56/8.20$ (first rung / every rung after) ever 8-10 inches of height if you build it this way as a spike is between .82 - .92 and you need 8 - 10 for those wondering price I am gathering as of this time correct me if I am wrong.

He can't just go build where he wants,you pretty much cannot build cabins on public land,anywhere, remember that people you do not have the right to just go put cabins up on public land, check your state and provincial laws

Fast for you who are strong and skilled in that type of work. It would take me an eternity. How much would you charge to make one for me? I am planning on living off the grid, have some chickens and hens, a garden, etc. either here in Canada, in Mexico or the U.S. I am also checking videos on purchasing the right piece of land. Thanks.

I respect that your doing most of this with hand tools.

2 questions:

1. Is is necessary to let the wood dry/cure a while?

2. How did you set up the foundation?
