- Mass (m) = 80 kg
- Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.81 m/s^2
- Drag coefficient (Cd) = 1.2 (Assuming the humanoid has a similar shape to a human)
- Cross-sectional area (A) = 1.5 m^2 (Assuming the humanoid has a similar shape to a human)
- Air density (rho) = 1.225 kg/m^3 (Assuming standard atmospheric conditions at sea level)
- Velocity (v) = 20 m/s (Assuming a constant speed during flight)
- Flight time (t) = 30 minutes = 1800 seconds
Equations:
Force of gravity:
F_gravity = m * g
F_gravity = 80 kg * 9.81 m/s^2 = 784.8 N
Air resistance force:
F_air = 0.5 * Cd * A * rho * v^2
F_air = 0.5 * 1.2 * 1.5 m^2 * 1.225 kg/m^3 * (20 m/s)^2 = 882 N
Total force:
F_total = F_gravity + F_air
F_total = 784.8 N + 882 N = 1666.8 N
Power:
P = F_total * v
P = 1666.8 N * 20 m/s = 33,336 W
Total energy required:
E_total = P * t
E_total = 33,336 W * 1800 s = 60,004,800 J
Therefore, the humanoid would need to generate approximately 60 million joules of energy to sustain flight for 30 minutes, assuming an efficient energy conversion and storage system
