The Best Tobi Theories That Never Happened (Evil Naruto Timeline)

It was always known it was obito in my circle. Either him or Madara. But it didn’t take away the impact because at that point it was “oh fuck it really IS him shit”

Ok so this is a theory me and a friend created at the time of the danzo fight just before the war. we thought that its either 1 of 2 scenarios.
1.Tobi is obito.
2. Tobi is kagami Uchiha, he has relation to danzo so he should have some level of anbu info which gave credence to him escaping before the massacre and him wanting to destroy the leaf was due to what danzo ordered itachi to do. abit of a stretch possibly

When Shippuden was new and fresh, the Obito theory was literally the first suspect and it seemed so obvious as well. But when Madara's name was dropped, the whole thing was dropped immediadly and everyone ate it up. I had my doubts at the time naturally since timeline didn't make sense at all but voicing any doubts on Tobi's identity at this point just brought all the fanboys at you because Tobi said he was Madara and Kishimoto never lied before.

However longer the Tobi thing continued, more people started to open up to the thought that maybe whole Madara thing wasn't as obvious as they thought. Once Kabuto dropped the hint of Tobi's identity, the forums started to liven up again with different theories... only to end up in Obito's reveal. It was such a lame 'plot twist' and felt like an insult to the fans. 🤦 Like making all the hints that butler did the murder and then reveal that it was actually the maid who did it and then at the end really confirm that it was really the butler all along. 🤦🤦

Best theory is that Tobi was the ramen shop guy all along.

Naruto turning evil would not be a clear and quick evil turn. It could have been explained by the scenario but unclear to Naruto himself : have the post 4th shinobi war peace era crumbled earlier than Boruto, 5th shinobi war, to protect the village, his friends, or even a just born Boruto, Naruto is forced to uses his power to wage war against the whole world, killing thousands and slowly turning evil without being conscious of it.

Sasuke by that time is working for Konoha but he is not fully in the village under Naruto influence. With an exterior point of view he understand that Naruto became what he wished to eradicated. And then he goes to the past to stop that from happening.

But yes it would have been weird to implement it.
It could be super cool to do like a parallel universe (because we kind of know those exist thanks to the okotsuki), and explore an evil Naruto in that universe, but no more than that.

Obito was kinda dumb when he chose a name with the same letters as his. TOBI -> OBIT, just double the 'o', that's how I figure it out back in the day

Izunami was foreshadowed and talked about way prior to Itachi using it and every uchia can use it it's the flip side of the real worst contender which is the one that can change reality which is an unbearable jutsu that not only ruins fights but ruins every fight against any uchia unlike iznumi

Honestly I just figured it was Madara. Brutal barbaric weirdo who has fallen off due to age but is still going strong from Hashirama's cells. Everything from Tobi (half senile, half spiting Tobirama) to the cruelty of the Bloody Mist (an old Uchiha tradition to force the sharingan to develop early maybe? Wouldn't even need to be Uchiha v Uchiha if they raised normies as well for the clan kids to off) still makes sense. When Kabuto flexed that Edo Tensei coffin that made him back down I was hyped because I thought we were gonna see Izuna lmao

back in the days when i played Storm 1 with a friend i allways said "Tobi is Obito, it makes sense bc he only shows his eye that didn´t go to Kakashi and the names are similar - Tobi=Obito (T)obito(bi). He allways said "nah that dude got smashed by a rock". I felt sweet justice when Obito was revealed.

I always thought Tobi was Madaras brother trying to continue Madara's will or legacy. The brothers could have just swap the eyes to gain an Eternal Mangekyo. Izuna would be taken down by Tobirama because one of his new created Jutsu. Imagine a sealing Genjutsu that would make Izuna view everyone as his brother and making him unable to fight. Later on when Madara dies, he still feels his presence in others but is devoured by hatred. Imagine his torment and willingness to kill people nevertheless. Obito should be a henchmen but not a villain of such a calibre - it would make his conversion more plausible in the context of the story.

I also used to think that Tobi was Izuna due to Tobi telling Sasuke that, like him, he too was a survivor, and also because of Itachi's Genjutsu Flashback showing Sasuke, Madara taking out his eye.

People shout their shit everywhere and some hit it correctly and found out that it was Obito and it was and has been backed by stuff from before like Tobi Obito in the name, him being a chihuahua basically narrow it down but then you had theories about Danzo never revealing his eye cause he was indeed Tobi. Definitely from the leaf village because he knew about Madara. Even Sasuke from the future could have worked this is what is great about naruto theories.

So yeah the big 3 was obito, madara and Shishui. Shisui was never realistic because he is Itachi best bro and Itachi barely interacted with the guy, do not tell me something dumb like he tried to hide his identity from Itachi... Heck when Itachi committed chihuahua genocide Tobi was there to help out, you think Shishui would have been yeah let's genocide my entire family LOLS.

Madara could have been canon IF Kabuto never found out about the real Madara and Kakashi never saw unmasked tobi.

i watched it as it came out and i knew it was obito when kakashi looked at tobis sharingan with his sharingan after sasuke murked itachi. but if it wasn't i always theorized that it was danzo's uchiha team member because of how familiar tobi/madara seemed to be with danzo during 5ks and how tobi didn't sick white zetsu on danzo and let him escape the summit

I remember being being in a forum talking about who Tobi was back in the day and one guy said it cant be Obito, thats too obvious. People can make therories of anything, thats the fun part, but I dont see how this was a surprise to people who were theorizing at the time. I mean you can literally spell out Tobi's name using the letters in Obito and his hair is basically identical.

madara was initially intended to be a main antagonist and it was kishimoto's goal to make him a force that would change the world of naruto but fans just got too carried away with their obsession on tobi after it was revealed he had a sharingan an that he claimed he was "madara uchiha" an kishimoto always gives more focus to characters that his fans want more of etc far as obito was concerned he was only intended to be the reason behind Kakashi's sharingan an the ideals he held as a ninja. people were just thinking too much on it, even more so when kishimoto teased there was something special or secretive about the character Tobi in the earlier chapters of shippuden.
an even if it had turned out tobi wasnt madara at least not in a technical sense tobi could have still been compelling as izuna madara's brother brought back to life in order to eradicate the system that killed his clan an his family or even if Madara had somehow created a younger clone of himself that would also have held up well an explained why he was set upon "reviving himself" an then sending the world into drunken stupor while he watches on to the world he created.

It makes more sense for it in be itachi from the future because he even tells sasuke abt itachi’s past after the fight
