I agree but I find that your speed here is too slow. I have students that speak at this speed and I find it just as irritating. I teach variety is best.

When we talk too fast, it prevents others from LISTENING. I commented on the Domino's commercial and someone told me my brain was slow. Not only was it a handicapist remark, I found it offensive, because I have hearing loss. Watch close captioning when people talk too fast. I think it is rude because people feel the need to get their words out, but do they actually listen? It's not only getting your words out, but to listen.

Any time I tried not to be fast, I feel uncomfortable. Most times, I even forget to apply these strategies.

i speak so fast. I think I need some sort of adhd med to actually cure me. I heard it helps. Also, I have a very deep bite which might relate to what you said about how 'opening' the jaw will help, which actually makes me think i probably need jaw surgery too! (i can't 'cultivate openess' as you put it) - I think they're the 2 things which make me speak fast. (so need meds and jaw surgery for my bite probably). Also, sidenote. When I try reallyy hard to force myself to speak really slow, I seem to lose my train of thought and all of my 'spontanaity' if that makes sense. Even my sense of humour! It's hard to explain

I have stuttered all my life. I had speech therapy in elementary school, junior high, and high school. I have tried to make an effort to stop stuttering, but I never put anything into it. I am going to take these techniques into consideration, and use them when I talk

Speaking fast is difficult for me not to do. People respond hostile if they believe that I am speaking too fast. It is a personal and professional handicap. I want to fix it, but it is extremely challenging. Just trying to slow down is not the solution because it doesn't come naturally.

I was faced lot problems, crying 🥲lot of times due to stammering.


No one is enemy in my life except stammering.

I'm easily able to do this with children during instruction, play time or while having general conversations. I realize that I am not so natural at applying these techniques with adults--->especially in the middle of a hot discussion or when many people are speaking over one another. I speak so fast sometimes people can't understand me, when I watch recordings of myself I can't understand myself a lot of the time as well, and I find it really embarrassing and it's one of my biggest insecurities.

Everytime i would try to tell myself to speak slower its like i just felt more anxious, like i was trying to slow down my thinking
