Great analysis bro 🎯
ОтветитьSure, but Vic Boss >>>
ОтветитьI like Big Boss more because his story is rather than a hero story ,
his is more like a Greek tragedy where he's a good inspiration yet because of that he's having his down fall too ,
His reason of descending into a villain is also understandable .
I guess because Big Boss really is like a father figure too.
Snake and Otacon's friendship is one of the greatest in video games. Reminds me of myself and my best friend. I'm the nerd and he's the cool manly man.
ОтветитьGreat video. I came in not having that many expectations but by the end of it I was crying. You gave me a lot of perspectives about Solid Snake and just the series in general that I never considered before.
ОтветитьHonestly real and based
ОтветитьWonderful video man. Ive always adored Solid Snake, true GOAT in the series, gaming as a whole 💜
ОтветитьAmazing vid. Love it
Ответитьr u acoustic
ОтветитьGreat video and your analysis is SPOT ON
Ответить"I don't want to hurt anyone"
"I don't want you to either"
That response from snake gave me goosebumps
Why do you end the last word in your first sentences with your voice going up in inflection, and end the last word in the follow-up sentences going down in inflection? I mean, there's nothing inherently wrong with that ig, but it's still fucking weird lol. Makes me wonder how your offspring would talk if you had a child with a Valley girl.
ОтветитьExcellent stuff! You can tell you’re a true fan. I was just casually searching for some nostalgia and it let me here and I am not disappointed
ОтветитьGreat video! I disagree about Raiden’s arc in Revengeance though, I think having Raiden accept his nature and use it for good instead of repeating the same arc again is better.
ОтветитьI think MGRR still works as part of the Canon if we simply focus on Raiden's Psyche and not necessarily as Armstrong's successor. We see Raiden can change back to his less edgy self when talking to Sunny or talking about his family or about Snake. Meaning, he's suffering from too much trauma and might be on the edge of Multiple personality. Of course DID and MPD in terms of being a plot element is a bit overplayed but this is prevalent in the whole series.
Raiden in MGS 2 deliberately hid his jack the ripper persona and only displays this at his home where he acts like a prisoner. In MGS 4, he resolved himself to live as Raiden. In MGRR, because of how the desperado and Armstrong is just his childhood personified, Jack the Ripper came out as a separate personality. He is working now as a vigilante like how Sam did so he's really more of Sam's Successor than Armstrong.
Solid Snake is like the Optimus Prime of the video games industry
ОтветитьI’m so glad I clicked and watched this video. I’ve watched so many Metal Gear videos about this and that. I learn something from almost every video that makes me dig even deeper into the saga that is Metal Gear. I never thought or heard about Hal being a love child of the Boss and Stranglelove. I always just assumed that he was the child of Strangelove and Huey. You knocked this video out of the park and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
ОтветитьI think rising WORKS in the og universe.... but I don't like it like that, so AU lol
ОтветитьI like how the thesis of metal gear solid is how hero’s are a myth for the powerful to control the narrative. Your hero is a meme of how people shouldn’t have hero’s. What comedy. Oh what comedy. Almost as silly as the war hawks who love metal gear lol.
ОтветитьHonestly, I see everything from MGS4 onward as non-canon. If Kojima ever came back to the series, I would want him to start post-mgs2 with a game centered on Raiden. One in which Snake wouldn’t age prematurely.
ОтветитьAbsolutely loved this video!
ОтветитьHalo made the master chief in snakes image. Same voice, same character
ОтветитьYeah. Not like he can beat Goku though
ОтветитьI agree with everything you said here but with the stuff about MGRR, I never took that ending as him abandoning his family or becoming Armstrong, but instead taking the good from Armstrong and fighting to change the future. All of the Metal Gear Villains, apart from Liquid, have good that can be taken from. The general nice-ness of Big Boss, the Anti Patriot belief from Solidus, and the self decision from Armstrong. And does Raiden not look happy by the end? He gets a happy ending, where he fights evil. And to me, I just want all the character's stories to end on a good note.
ОтветитьDude! This video is fucking incredible! Solid Snake has always and will always be my favourite video game character.
ОтветитьHonestly I don’t think raiden in MGS Rising is him giving into “jack the ripper” but accepting that part of him and making an even stronger person. But I also agree that it isn’t cannon lol😅
ОтветитьHello again, Solid Kenny.
It's been a longtime./久しぶりだな。
I remember your Metal Gear Rising Sucks and Jack and Rose Seeing things for what they are.
I heard that the Ending to MGS4 was done because not only Kojima's team were against Kojima's idea for the Ending, but because of the Japanese father and son voice actors Akio Otsuka and Chikao Otsuka had a falling out prior to the creation of MGS4.
When Kojima learned about it, he decided to patch things up between the father and son by having the father do the voice of Big Boss in MGS4.
Chikao Otsuka has since passed away on January 15, 2015.
I only found out about this after Commenting on a Video with a Podcast with Akio, his father and Yumi Kikuchi saying "Chikao Otsuka? He's still alive?". A few days later someone Replied back saying "He has died." I still remember the date since that day.
Solid Snake is the protagonist of 9 games, 9! Sure half of them are semi-canon but still that is a huge amount of content Big Biss is only the main character or 3 maybe 4 its debatable is Ground Zeroes was him or Venom.
Raiden is only the protagonist of 2 games but there was enough content for 3, unless you count MGS VR as a Raiden game, regardless the Fandom has spent WAY more time woth Snake dude is an icon!
Solid snake in a way was the biggest pawn of the true villians depending how you look at it
ОтветитьSolid Snake needed to be in more games.
ОтветитьI love metal gear and kojima but its crazy that you dont think rising works, raiden is living gray fox's dream RIGHT NOW
ОтветитьFrank Jager is Naomi Hunter’s brother Fun fact: Jager means Hunter in. Dutch/German
ОтветитьCan u do one about how big boss is gameings greatest vilain
ОтветитьGreat video mate
Ответитьmetal gear has been part of my childhood
ОтветитьHonestly I think every metal gear/solid game the good guys lost/died in the end lol but I did love MGS 4 Manipulated “Old” Snake literally got manipulated to very end and ocelot literally did everything for big boss he literally outplayed a fucking AI whose really a legend here and big boss finished his mission with zero but what really doesn’t make sense is the patriots being a old organization when they didn’t become the patriots until after it was cipher after it was the philosophers unless all the ai shit was set in motion in the 1800s unless the end of mgs2 otacon was talking about the philosophers but I did just find out last year that Donald Anderson was Signint
ОтветитьThey are both very good arcs. With Big Boss
1)He becomes traumatized from his country setting him up to eliminate The Boss all for the sake of appeasing the Soviets in MGS3
2)He goes through his own Shadow Moses on San Hieronymo, struggling to figure out what kind of world The Boss really wanted only to find a temporarily acceptable answer with Cipher in MGS:PO
3)Horrified by what Zero’s lust for control has wrought in Les Enfants Terribles, Big Boss leaves Cipher and Foxhound. He encounters Kazuhira Miller in battle and after defeating him, he eventually recruits him and forms Militaires Sans Frontieres together. His last link to The Boss is an AI pod and at the end of that arc, he accepts that The Boss betrayed him for her country and thus he embraces his title of Big Boss and his descent into villainy begins in MGS:PW.
4)MSF continues existing as a PF, but the existence of Zeke is problematic. So XOF lures out Big Boss, and destroys mother base. 9 years later and Big Boss’s true colors come out. He betrays Kaz, he makes you take his place and frames it like it’s a privilege to do so in MGS5. The is Big Boss’s real legacy. The true definition of a snake. He rewards his best man the way the US rewarded The Boss over 30 years prior.
Betraying everyone left and right. Loyalty to his vision above all else. He became the very thing that started him down this path.
5)Nobody knows the specifics of 1984-1995, but I suspect Venom continued his role while Big Boss built Outer Heaven and returned to FOXHOUND. When the time came, he gave the order to Venom to relocate. I also suspect that since mother base was never heard from again, a coordinated demolition also occurred.
6)And that brings us to Solid Snake. A man who, despite going through a lot of what Big Boss did, came out differently despite it. Had his Virtuous Mission and Snake Eater in Outer Heaven and Zanzibar, which traumatized him. Then he had to help eliminate his two brothers in MGS1 and MGS2. And then to wrap it all up, his genes are deployed to target all the founders of Cipher. And after all that crap he went through, he STILL decided to spend his last year or so just taking life for what it is. He refused to become the villain his father was and in so doing, he would remembered as a hero. Not a monster

ОтветитьGreat analysis, but your cadence….. is driving me……… nuts!
Ответить❤
ОтветитьYour narration sounds like "Valley-Girl A.I." but nice videeooooo...
ОтветитьMy big complaint was solid snake is a good character and mgs 2 is terrible in every way. Plot characters setting even gameplay
ОтветитьFor MGS2 I like to think that Snake asked for the M9 tranq pistol as a way of not killing after what liquid said of him enjoying killing that’s the way I see it
ОтветитьI still hate what they did to him throughout Guns of the Patriots, meeting BigBoss was the only good thing about it, seeing my childhood hero old and dying is not pleasant
ОтветитьCompletely spot on. You had me crying.
ОтветитьAhem What a thrill…
ОтветитьExcellent video. I remember when we were doing Autism Exchange, you talked about the legend of Solid Snake, and how his character resonated with you. While Raiden is my favorite character in Metal Gear, Solid Snake is a very close second. One scene in MGS1 that made me very emotional upon first seeing it was after the second torture sequence, where Snake told Naomi that after killing his father, Snake needed to be alone for a while. It reminded me of one of the darkest times of my own life, and it's the scene that stands out to me whenever I think of MGS1.
I also never bought the "Solid becomes too cynical again in MGS4" arguments because as the game goes on, it becomes harder and harder to support that argument, ESPECIALLY by the Microwave scene.
