Quick correction: the English dub is taken from Second Evolution (the 2008 PSP release). The lines have not been rerecorded in English for this remake.
One of my sources (mobygames) had the wrong name listed for Celine in Second Evolution, so I figured that role must have been recast for this version. Turns out mobygames just had an error there.
Is this game a stand alone story or does it continue the story of the 1st? Can I jump straight to this one?
ОтветитьMan, I’m only halfway through the game and EVERYTHING has been so damn good. This is definitely setting a new bar for remakes.
ОтветитьYou have the amazing gift of making me want to buy every jrpg you speak good of.
ОтветитьYou should try slowing down a bit. Add some pauses to emphasize important points. The content is good but some of the points get lost amidst the rapid influx of information.
ОтветитьOk gaming industry chrono trigger, breath of fire IV, Xenogrars and Lunar next.
ОтветитьThe degree of customisation for the voice acting has to be a new standard. I very much doubt something like this which must’ve cost a lot will be done again. I agree about the beauty of pre-rendered graphics but they really did such a good job here that I think they went the right way. It’s a remarkable remake and a rare one. I think they obviously realise that this game is highly regarded and wanted to respect the fans. They did it
ОтветитьI don't like the jarring disconnect in style between the characters and the environments.
ОтветитьSoooooo...is Chrono Trigger going to get this treatment? I sure hope so!
ОтветитьUgh sometimes it feels like my backlog is too long for my lifespan and adding jrpgs doesn't help.
ОтветитьHow good is the story in this game?
ОтветитьGreat video! Will you be doing a follow up after playing the final release?
ОтветитьI would love to see this treatment with breath of fire 3 or grandia.
Imagine the 1rst gen pokemon games getting this treatment
Ima say something unpopular...i wish they updated the sprites a bit. They stand out to me too much and it's distracting.
ОтветитьI love this game. Bought it when it first came out on PS1, played it on psp and have patiently waiting for a modern release
ОтветитьThis game deserve more attention!!
ОтветитьBetter than any modern JRPG I played in the last 10 years.
That's how I like JRPGs.
Option to completely turn off voice acting? Awesome
ОтветитьPlayed the demo yesterday, and I have to say the town music got on my nerves immensly, to the point I considered to stop playing...who else had a similar experience?
ОтветитьHOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS BEAUTIFUL THING I SEE BEFORE ME
Ответитьnext week is super mario rpg remake , hype
ОтветитьOne of my favorite parts of this game was actually the dopey voice acting for the PlayStation
Claude's highly compressed and poorly active voice is just a feature I adore
"Unexpectedly weak"
I can’t wait to play this! I only played this on a ps1 demo disc as a little kiddo, and it was a mystery to me but it was so beautiful and fascinating to me.
ОтветитьJust finished the 3 hour demo today and it’s fantastic, there are so many JRPGs from this era I would love to see redone in this way, the Lunar series especially 😭 Can’t wait to play the full version!! 💙
ОтветитьXENOGEARS NEEDS THIS GLOWUP 😭✨
ОтветитьIm glad its doing well, hoping for a remade for the first one aswell
ОтветитьI have been playing the game more than 30 hours and it’s to me how all remakes/remasters should be it has a lot of quality of life improvements especially the town warps. In the end these improvements that I wanted in FFVII remake but we got a Kingdom hearts clone made for adult kingdom hearts fans
ОтветитьYea, voice acting in this game is abysmally bad in English...
ОтветитьWhy retain the character sprites for nostalgia's sake? Wouldn't it be beneficial to create 3D models for them as well? This would enable a wider range of animations, imbue them with a sense of weight and make them match the environ in what ultimately would've been a long-term resource savings decision.
ОтветитьThe GOAT RPG! Chrono can sit down.
ОтветитьSeeing how it is now and the crt from way back when blows my mind. It looked like current in my memories. Damn what a change.
ОтветитьTake my money and my precious time.
ОтветитьSeems like a GREAT GAME to play, sadly i'm just 20 years too old my teen-hood to be playing games all the time.
ОтветитьI love this game played it back in my early teens… I’m 38 now lol
ОтветитьI am loving every aspect of the remake. They did an amazing job. Hands down one of the best remakes I have ever played.
ОтветитьPersonaly, excepted for games that are not "anime" like, I HATE english dubs when they try to mimic japanese voice actors who are always way better. I think having japanese voices is the minimum, not english, even if you do not understand japanese.
ОтветитьI'm personally not a big fan of the full HD, highly realistic looking environments against the OG pixel character graphics. I think the per-rendered backgrounds had a charm to them and meshed better with the character graphics. This just looks jarring.
ОтветитьI'll never use dub instead original (in any media). Japanese voice is always a good thing and I'll always use it if it's the original (in 99% cases it is in Japanese games). Hearing truly passionate and skilled people directed by people who created this game is delightful.
ОтветитьGame got 0 fanfare but damn its good
ОтветитьHoping this sells well for a Til The End of Time R 😎
Ответить30$ on steam or 50$ on switch? Usually like RPGS more on Switch but 20$ difference
ОтветитьShould I play the first game first tho?
ОтветитьShould be on Xbox as well.
ОтветитьThe game looks beautiful, the sprites and new visuals blend so well together, the game is a real treat.
Ответитьbuy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy
Ответитьthis may sound weird but i prefer the original ps1 voices. they were so bad they were good and i love them lol
ОтветитьBring us Xenogears and vagrant story. Nobody cares about a cooking RPG. Stop wasting everyone’s time.
ОтветитьtriAce was probably hands down one of the most ambitious devs of the time as far as game systems go. They had to have jumped up and down on the master copy to get it all to fit. Game is absolutely stuffed with content.
Second Story psx has some serious punching weight if you itemized. Dozens and dozens of sprites for each character. Then art for npcs monsters and towns. All the backgrounds. Gotta be talking hundreds of skills for enemies and characters (most characters will even change animations and effects as you use them). Thousands of different items / equipment . The already beefy script that gets bigger and bigger the more characters you add or PAs you go on. adding on the voice acting in battles. unique animations for spells. Considering the sheer amount of coding that had to be put into the game it's actually amazing the original only had a few known trouble spots with locking up. When in today's market we can see a week or day one patch on a gamebreaking bug for a title that really doesn't even have half as much going on under the hood.
At least the so2 team only fumbled in a few spots and to my knowledge it's after the main story. I've only seen the game actually lock in the optional dungeon. with the Uber bosses or the million funny thief lv99 encounters. You can intentionally do it when you start really pushing the musical talents. Mostly ones that have to do with summoning enemies to battle. Some music can be wonky if done at weird or bad skill levels. cause some serious crafting jank. Freeze before an item is made etc.
I'm really glad to see square not just let the ambition of the original team go to waste. all the changes seem to be done in good faith and only to present the best possible version with some quality of life upgrades. Very nice to see attention to details like the voice acting split into per character options as well. Art looks different of course but not in a bad way or a way that shows lack of care( like secret of mana / chrono triggers initial "remasters")
if you love the original or just want to see this type of treatment done for any of the other orphaned classics in their back catalog then support these types of releases.I can get why people wouldn't shell out their cash for modern Era square but if there isnt a positive reception from fans then we are dead in the water for all of the other dream projects.
Love and peace
Tried playing without voice acting and lowkey enjoyed the pacing a lot more! Thanks for the tip
