Why are people blaming Valve for the "Steam Deck" preset? CDPR is the one that set it up.

Crank the GPU clock speed all the way up. Set for to performance. Set all graphics to lowest. Turn screen refresh to 60 and Res to 720. It'll get around 60fps smooth

In erry game I've ever played, I learned that a capped frame rate is a capped performance. I force a cap and Vsync via my GPU driver instead

Minecraft is the best example. I used to play at 12chunks at 60fps cuz I thought that was my limit, but I constantly dropped down to the 50s or 40s for no reason. But when I uncapped the frame rate, I wasn't even getting under 100fps doing the same things I've always been doing. There was absolutely no reason the game wasn't a perfectly solid 60fps16.67ms under erry circumstance wtf

When my games are capped at a certain frame rate, the hardware then only bothers to exert enough power to get 30. So whenever anything happens, the frame rate will drop under 30 and then have to exert more power just to get back to 30. It's like 'dynamic performance' or something.
When the frame rate is uncapped in game, it then makes your PC exert maximum power at all times to achieve maximum possible frame rate, leaving you only with the simple option of turning Vsync/FrameCap on via GPU driver. In which, for me at least in most games, has made my games MUCH more stable and less prone to drops now that my game is making my PC overachieve

IDK how it'll be on the Deck, but I hope I can uncap errything and just cap it via Steam Deck instead

The estimated lowest FPS, I think, is to calculate using worst frame time to divide 1000ms. For example, you have 72ms in "Steam Deck" settings, the lowest FPS in the period should be 1000/72, about 13.8 fps.

Now that i have overclocked my deck i'll have to try the game even tho i no longer play it.

I noticed u kept the settings at Quality for each version u tried. But there are also Performance and ultra performance settings. I personally play on performance and use mods to make the game look better. That way i get more frames out of it and it still looks pretty decent :D

I can't believe people can be this demanding of a 15W handheld. Occasional dips below 30 fps should be a given for a game this demanding. It's a wonder it runs in a playable state at all.

Whelp I’m probably not gonna get it then.
Thought about it cause of the sale. But I mostly play on my Deck now a days… and that’s with letting it go fully dead 3 times on me while it was in a drawer. I play so little, that I’ll just stick to the games I know run well, and know I like.
(Really, I played on it for like 2 months straight when I first got it. Now I play maybe a few days in a row, and then leave it asleep for 3 months. I haven’t even turned it on since the March(May?) update, and there’s a new update xD

Bro low key the Steam Deck settings for me on my Steam Deck I get 60fps. The only thing that makes ME EXTREMELY uncomfortable when my thermals are mid to high 80's Celsius. For this game it's normal even that shows in your game play. That Thermals are usually pretty normal at mid to high 80s in Celsius form. The hottest it's gotten for me is 92C but the fan just throttles up.

Playing it on medium with high textures, reflections and crowd density. Auto FSR. Getting stable 30fps on on foot and 25fps during high speed driving.

Stuttering is rarely due to a GPU bottleneck. GPU bottlenecks usually yield low but stable framerates.

What you're seeing is a CPU bottleneck, which doesn't usually improve by reducing graphical settings.
That's why you're taking such a hard hit in quality while only seeing a couple frames of improvement by dropping everything all the way down.

And that is also why Valve (if Valve is even responsible ? I would expect that to be CDPR's job) set this preset the way it is.

its always that weird area in front of Vs apartment sounds like a memory leak because it drops on my 3070 in that area too. Also the latest proton is bugged in some games. You have to set the refresh rate in game to 60 then use the 30 fps frame lock in steam OS for this game. This wasnt an issue using proton 7.

The steam deck preset is pretty dumb, was a shame that it was dropping into the 25fps range where the game feels very unresponsive.
But after playing with it for a couple minutes, all i had to do was turn on dynamic resolution to enjoy driving around at stable 30 fps, which is the ideal console experience for me. :)

I've never seen someone complain about a half-second fps loss in a car crash.

If the steamdeck can run Cyberpunk 2077 the Rog Ally should manage this game no problem right?

Interesting that valve is to blame for the steam deck graphic settings.... I would have put that on CDPR.

Imagine in the future, valve uses the RTX 5050 ti mobile chip, for the steam deck 2, with 120 hz, and an 8.5” screen, no borders, and a more comfortable grip and upgradable features (like ram and better ssd options)

🤔 my steam deck settings are the default high. 30 fps lock in game and with the steam deck 30 fps lock @ 1200x800 full screen, fsr set to auto and yeah sure it drops between 26-30 but I've been enjoying the game. Also I have the Fan curve set to the original and installed on the SSD

I had to turn vsync on to lock fps with steam deck menu. I also used Intels upscaling instead of fsr, text looks better.

Cyberpunk runs like a charm on the Deck at only 10W TDP (= temps <70°C). CryoUtiities 2.0 fixes, 4GB VRAM fix, CPU clocks limited to 2200 MHz with PowerTools, and you can even apply ReShade, or use VibrantDeck, to make the colours pop. 🙂

Cyberpunk's own FPS lock is broken as the Warzone 2 fps lock, locking FPS for both games in the GPU driver makes it a lot more smooth
