Ibanez S7420 - Stock Pickups vs Dimarzio Pickups

I recently replaced the pickups in my Ibanez S7420 seven string guitar, and as a little experiment I decided to do a before and after. The pickups I installed were the Dimarzio Crunch Lab (Bridge) and the Dimarzio Liquifire (Neck).

The new pickups were installed to the same height as the stock ones, the tracks in the full mix had the same eq (just a cut below about 90hz) before and after the change. I used the same pick, same strings, same cables, same mic position, and so on and so forth.

For me, the difference "in the room" was night and day. You could tell that the Dimarzio pickups were by far the superior of the two. The reaction to light or heavy picking, harmonics, sustain, low end tightness...the stock ones just didn't have that. After listening to this comparison recorded, the difference seems not as huge.

I'll leave you guys make up your own minds. I hope this video has been of benefit. In case anyone is wondering, the S7420 is an amazing guitar for the price. I can't find fault with it, and the stock pickups were even quite good....just a bit lacking.
